Schedule: Full-Time, 40 Hours | Monday - Friday (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)

Position Overview

Tufts Medicine is seeking a dedicated Staff Psychologist to join our team at a 60-bed inpatient DMH hospital. You will play a pivotal role in a multidisciplinary team, providing expert psychological services to a diverse patient population with complex needs, including major mental illness, substance use, neurological factors, and forensic involvement.

As a member of the clinical team, you will bridge the gap between assessment and recovery, ensuring that every patient receives high-quality, person-centered care through diagnostic testing, risk assessments, therapy, and clinical consultation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Leadership: Serve as the Staff Psychologist for assigned units, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team (Psychiatry, Social Work, Nursing, and OT) to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Advanced Assessment: Conduct comprehensive psycho-diagnostic and neuropsychological evaluations. This includes risk screenings, cognitive assessments, and interpreting objective/projective testing to guide treatment.
  • Therapeutic Intervention: Provide evidence-based individual, group, and family therapy focused on recovery skills, insight-building, and behavioral change.
  • Behavioral Expertise: Utilize Behavior Chain Analysis and Positive Behavior Support (PBS) techniques rooted in Cognitive-Behavioral Theory , as well as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
  • Supervision & Training: Provide high-quality supervision to post-doctoral fellows, doctoral interns, and practicum students. Lead in-service training for staff on psychotherapeutic techniques.
  • Crisis Management: Act decisively and maintain a calm therapeutic presence during stressful or emergency clinical situations.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Licensure: Current and valid registration as a Psychologist by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Psychology.
  • Note: We will consider Post-Doctoral candidates provided licensure is obtained within one year of hire.
  • Clinical Proficiency: Deep knowledge of psychological theories, social psychology, and the principles of individual psychotherapy.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills for reporting diagnostic findings and coordinating care.
  • Compliance: Strict adherence to HIPAA and state/federal confidentiality laws.

Preferred:

  • Inpatient Experience: Background in recovery-oriented, person-centered care within an inpatient setting.
  • Forensic Knowledge: Experience with court-committed forensic evaluation processes.
  • Specialized Care: Skill in crisis intervention and treating dual-diagnosis (mental illness and substance abuse) populations.
  • Linguistic Diversity: Bilingual or multilingual fluency is highly valued.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $95,000.00 (unlicensed candidates) to $125,000.00 (licensed candidates) annually.
