| Brief Summary of Work for this Position |
The Lab Manager supports the research mission of the I3S Institute by maintaining, securing, and enhancing Institute computing and data infrastructure. This role ensures reliable access to high-performance computing resources, supports faculty, staff, and students across platforms, and maintains operational continuity of AI-focused research systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain and enhance I3S data stores across multiple
SAN and storage platforms
* Manage user accounts, credentials, and access control across Linux, macOS, and Windows environments
* Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware issues, including AI appliances and research computing systems
* Support onboarding and access provisioning for faculty, staff, and students on I3S computing platforms
* Provide basic tutorials and user support for Institute computing resources and workflows
* Ensure compliance with
UNCW policies related to data management, security, and access control
* Coordinate with
UNCW IT and research support units as needed |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
* Minimum of 5 years of experience managing data systems and access control in a research or enterprise environment
* Demonstrated experience managing hardware and user accounts on
UNCW-managed equipment
* Proficiency in Linux, macOS, and Windows system administration
* Experience supporting storage systems,
SAN platforms, and research computing infrastructure
* Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently in a research setting
