This corporate role supports Dixie converting operations across multiple manufacturing sites by providing hands-on electrical and controls engineering expertise. The position is location-flexible (home-based within the U.S.) with regular travel to manufacturing facilities.

The Electrical Engineer will serve as a hands-on technical resource focused on stabilizing existing control systems, supporting sites through complex troubleshooting, and enabling sustainable improvements to automation, safety, and reliability. The role is well-suited for experienced engineers who value deep technical work, close engagement with manufacturing operations, and the opportunity to apply their expertise in a multi-site operating environment.

Travel is required up to 50%, depending on site needs, project phases, and commissioning or troubleshooting activities.

What You Will Do

  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting and technical support for controls and automation systems to improve safety, reliability, and uptime across Dixie converting operations
  • Partner with site process control, E&I, and operations teams to diagnose and resolve complex control system issues
  • Support startup, commissioning, and stabilization of new or upgraded equipment, with focus on safe operation and effective handoff to site teams
  • Evaluate existing control systems and automation practices, identify reliability or operability gaps, and recommend practical, supportable improvements
  • Develop scopes, alternatives, and technical guidance for upgrading obsolete control systems
  • Contribute to the development and reinforcement of standards, best practices, and documentation for control systems, HMIs, and safety-related controls
  • Collaborate with other central engineering teams to prioritize work, share lessons learned, and improve consistency across sites

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Associate's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field; equivalent practical experience will also be considered
  • Three or more years of hands-on experience supporting industrial control systems in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting, configuring, and upgrading PLC-based control systems
  • Experience supporting live manufacturing operations, including diagnosing unplanned downtime and working effectively in time-sensitive production environments
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% to support site needs
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience supporting paper converting operations, including printing, packaging, and material handling equipment
  • Hands-on experience with Rockwell and/or Siemens PLC and HMI platforms in a manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with VFDs, servo systems, motion control, and industrial network architecture
  • Experience with machine safety systems, including safety PLCs, interlocks, guarding, and functional safety concepts
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, including control panels, field devices, and industrial power distribution commonly found in manufacturing facilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work across multiple facilities or production lines, adapting solutions to different operating constraints
  • Experience developing clear technical documentation that enables site teams to sustain solutions over time
