What if your fuel operations expertise could strengthen the safety, efficiency, and reliability of Southwest Airlines' fueling network? The Sr Fuel Operations Regional Manager leads the planning and strategy for Southwest's fuel operations, guiding how fuel is stored, maintained, and delivered across the system while partnering with internal Teams and external fuel consortia to enhance operational standards. They'll conduct spend and market analysis, develop costlowering and assetoptimizing strategies, evaluate risks, and advise Senior Fuel Operations Leadership on longterm planning and innovation. Through strong analytical skills, collaboration, and operational Leadership, the Sr Fuel Operations Regional Manager is excited to support fueling reliability and advance Southwest Airlines' commitment to safe and efficient operations.

Responsibilities
- Serve in a Leadership role and as subject matter expert in the industry by participating in airline fuel consortia in an executive capacity as a representative of Southwest Airlines, influencing the continuous improvement of the consortia model
- Develop and drive strategy to effectively manage on and off-airport storage facilities, maintenance and operations (M&O), and into-plane service providers
- Lead engagements with Legal, Tax, Corporate Accounting, Treasury, Enterprise FP&A, Accounts Payable, Internal Audit, Ground Ops Leadership, Airport Affairs, Corporate Facilities, Legal, Risk Management, Finance, Enterprise FP&A, Network Operations Control, and others as necessary
- Act as a commodity and industry subject matter expert; support internal and external Customers through sharing knowledge, mentoring, and training others in respective area of expertise
- Leveraging existing and prospective supplier networks, acts prudently concerning all aspects of fuel operations performance, including cost, quality, safety and security of supply
- Reads cues from various individuals to assess when and how to change the planned communication approach to effectively deliver messages
- Analyzes the future impact of decisions by taking a big-picture approach, and to strategically position the project/initiative within the business to support short- / long-term objectives
- Sets goals that align with Leadership goals and objectives, determines actions to achieve goals, utilizes resources needed to execute actions and influences others to achieve same
- Draws from experience to develop innovative ideas, business process improvement and contribute / guide that strategic thought in a group or one-on-one setting
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
- Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data
- Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits
- Skilled in identifying multiple solutions to multifaceted problems and using skills to help/mentor others to navigate the complexities of the commodities markets, fuel operations, scheduling, optimizing assets and/or use of associated technological solutions
- Skilled in understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
- Skilled in collecting, organizing, visualizing, and assimilating data including turning raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software
- Skilled in understanding and applying information to contribute to the organization's strategic plan
- Ability to come up with a number of ideas about a topic (the number of ideas is important, not their quality, correctness, or creativity)
- Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events)
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
- Expert-level experience, expansive and far reaching knowledge in:
- Into-plane fuel services, fuel storage maintenance and operations, fuel accounting, fuel purchasing, or fuel quality assurance/control
- General accounting principles and SOX requirements
- Expert analytical skills
- Preferred: Experience with enterprisescale fuel operations, including fuel farm management, hydrant systems, logistics, and intoplane provider oversight.
- Preferred: Experience working with airline or airport fuel consortia, jointuse fuel systems, or multistakeholder operational environments.
- Preferred: Advanced operational fuel expertise, strong analytical and financial acumen, and experience with modern digital fueling technologies.
Physical Abilities
- Ability to perform work duties from limited space work station/desk/office area for extended periods of time
- Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
- Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.
- Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary, and sensitive Company information.
- Ability to work extended hours as needed including: nights, weekends, and holidays
- Possible Travel: 35-40%
Pay & Benefits
Competitive market salary from$132,200 - $146,900 per year* depending on qualifications and experience, with opportunity for future pay increases based on performance and market movement. For eligible leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
