About the Opportunity:

The Cost Estimator plays a critical role in driving Pursuit Aerospace's competitive advantage by delivering accurate, data-driven cost estimates for complex aerospace components. This position serves as a key bridge between engineering, operations, supply chain, and sales-translating technical requirements into detailed labor, material, and outside processing cost models that support timely, competitive, and profitable customer quotations.

Working in a precision machining environment that supports high-temperature alloys and close-tolerance aerospace components, the Cost Estimator evaluates RFQs, assesses manufacturing methods, analyzes technical drawings and specifications, and identifies cost-effective production strategies. This role requires strong technical acumen in process engineering, a deep understanding of aerospace manufacturing practices, and the ability to anticipate production risks and opportunities.

The ideal candidate combines analytical rigor with operational insight, ensuring quotes are both achievable and aligned with shop floor capabilities. In addition to estimating, this individual contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, evaluates planning and engineering changes for cost impact, and supports Lean and Kaizen efforts to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.

This is a highly collaborative, on-site role based in South Windsor, CT, directly supporting operational excellence and long-term customer partnerships in a dynamic aerospace manufacturing environment.

Location: South Windsor, CT - This position is 100% on site, Monday through Friday. Office staff generally work a 7:30am-4:30pm shift to meet needs of the shop floor.

Responsibilities:

  • Be able to estimate realistic, accurate, and achievable hour/material costs and use that information so a competitive quote can be provided to the customer.
  • Communicate with all teams and related departments during the RFQ process so that the team understands the method of manufacture required to be used when the order is awarded.
  • Solve technical manufacturing problems as required.
  • Evaluate planning change requests to improve manufacturing production and/or reduce costs.
  • Investigate and evaluate proposed engineering solutions to customer service problems.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Observes all Company policies, rules, and regulations including good housekeeping safety and security.
  • Download tech data associated with RFQ's from customers websites & place into internal file structure
  • Enter RFQ's into ERP (visual) system, & manage quote log accordingly
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time bases without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 to 5 years related estimating and quoting experience preferred
  • 5 to 10 years Process Engineering experience in precision machining environment.
  • 5 to 10 years Aerospace Experience
  • 2 to 5 years administrative related responsibilities in a aerospace environment preferred
  • Possessive of no less than five years (5 - 10 years preferred) of producing quotes for related products and processes (i.e., close tolerance complex aerospace components manufactured from Inconel, titanium, all high temp alloys, carbon, steel, stainless steel and aluminum casting & raw materials utilizing turning, milling, drilling, grinding & assembly processes).
  • The successful candidate must be able to estimate realistic, accurate, and achievable labor/material costs and use that information so a competitive quote can be provided to the customer; technical skills in process engineering and quality assurance are required, while cost accounting experience is strongly preferred.
  • Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques knowledge preferred.
  • Experience with developing/documenting procedures.
  • Computer proficiency.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to have prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
  • Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses and safety shoes) is required on the shop floor
  • Occasional weekend and evening work may be required to accommodate priorities, deadlines, and schedules.
