Job Description




As a Security Officer - Part-Time Gate Attendant in West Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Logistics & Distribution, and more. As an Access Control Officer at a busy logistics and distribution location, you will help manage entry points, greet drivers and employees, verify credentials, and issue and/or track badges. You will monitor assigned areas, complete routine patrols, and stay visible to help discourage security-related incidents. Using clear communication, you will document activity, support site procedures, and deliver customer service with Allied Universal values of agility, reliability, innovation, teamwork, caring, and integrity.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to employees, contractors, drivers and visitors by following Allied Universal security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities at a logistics and distribution location.
  • Control access at gates, docks, and building entrances by checking identification, issuing temporary credentials as directed, managing visitor sign-in, and directing traffic flow in designated areas.
  • Screen inbound and outbound activity by verifying appointments, validating shipment and delivery paperwork as required, and documenting exceptions per post orders.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including contacting site leadership and/or emergency services when appropriate and completing written reports.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of buildings, yard areas, and perimeter to help to deter unauthorized access, identify maintenance or policy concerns, and report unusual activity.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
