The expected hiring range for this position is:

$15.00-$20.00.

About the Role:
The Fermilab Infrastructure Services Division seeks Summer Seasonal Groundskeeper to join the Grounds Maintenance Group in the Roads & Grounds Department. Under direct supervision, you will perform tasks to maintain Fermilab site roads, grounds, and related facilities.

What your day-to-day as a Summer Seasonal Groundskeeper at Fermilab will look like:

  • Performs landscape maintenance activities including mowing, weed whip and repair turf site-wide.
  • Assisting in planting, watering, mulching, and pruning of trees and shrubs using hand pruners and pull saw.
  • Assist in exterior bed care maintenance including plating, watering, and weed removal.
  • Perform general maintenance and cleaning of buildings, trucks, and equipment.
  • Assist with minor roadway/ parking lot repairs and traffic control when needed.
  • Assist with restriping asphalt surfaces: Stop lines, crosswalks, and parking spots.
  • Perform site maintenance which includes cleaning up downed trees, small limbs, garbage, and debris.
  • Maintains and cleans the underground stormwater drainage systems, Perform heavy physical labor.

Skills and Attributes for Success:

  • A candidate 18 years of age with a valid state issued driver's license
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • A High School diploma or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of small hand tools, gas powered tools, mowers, and various lawn care equipment.
  • Skills in landscape maintenance and exterior bed care
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office).
  • Ability to work independently and harmoniously in a group setting.
  • Ability to abide by all environment, safety and health regulations.
  • Willingness to respect, understand and value individual differences that embody laboratory principles of diversity and inclusion.
