UVA Health is seeking a skilled and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our Inpatient Therapies team in a key full-time role. This position primarily focuses on supporting patients with acute psychiatric conditions, helping them improve their emotional, cognitive, and physical well-being to maximize overall function and occupational performance.
In this role, the Occupational Therapist will help patients develop, recover, and maintain the skills needed for daily living and working, enabling greater independence and improved quality of life. Care is delivered through both individual and group therapy sessions, using patient-centered, evidence-based approaches. The ideal candidate brings a passion for working with this patient population, a commitment to best practices, and a strong dedication to interprofessional collaboration within a dynamic care environment. Responsibilities include assessing patient needs, developing individualized treatment plans, and implementing therapeutic interventions that support patients in achieving their functional and occupational goals. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education: Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy required. Experience: None. Licensure: Licensed to practice in Occupational Therapy in the Commonwealth of Virginia. New grads must be licensed within 6 months of hire. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Job requires sitting/standing for prolonged periods and frequently bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 30 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease. The starting base rate for this role is $69,201.60 annually.
