Location:Oak Ridge, TN What You'll Do
As a structural engineer, the candidate will develop high-quality engineering design packages, including drawings, specifications, and calculations, and provide field support during construction to ensure proper implementation. Responsibilities include preparing conceptual engineering deliverables such as scopes/statements of work, design criteria, man-hour estimates, and bills of material. The engineer will work as a member of an integrated project team and may serve as a technical lead on multi-discipline tasks, collaborating with other disciplines, project engineers, system engineers and other plant stakeholders. The position also requires routinely conducting walkdowns of existing facilities to support the development of accurate design documents and to provide on-site support to construction personnel. The Structural Engineer must be proficient in developing (and providing oversite of drafting) structural drawings (notes, plans, sections, and details), construction specifications and calculations for reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, and cold-formed steel. The engineer will apply established engineering practices and applicable codes and standards to develop solutions to complex structural problems. Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
This position may require entry into the Material Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (10 C.F.R. Part 712), which requires successful competition of a DOE counterintelligence evaluation and may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination.
