Rutgers School of Public Health ( SPH) is seeking a Program Coordinator (Training, Outreach and Evaluation) for the Center for Public Health Workforce Development ( CPHWD within the School of Public Health, located in Somerset, NJ.

The Program Coordinator supports the coordination, implementation, and evaluation of occupational safety and health research and training programs within the Center for Public Health Workforce Development at the Rutgers School of Public Health. The position plays a central role in maintaining the Center's data and evaluation systems, supporting research activities, and ensuring compliance with institutional and grant requirements.
The Program Coordinator assists with day-to-day research operations, including preparing and maintaining IRB applications, coordinating participant recruitment and data collection, and managing documentation and reporting. The position also contributes to the preparation of evaluation reports, grant progress reports, and related communications.
A key focus of this role is helping to build and maintain the Center's data management and collaboration systems across Teams, Box, and Qualtrics, as well as evaluation systems, supporting the streamlining of data workflows, file organization, and reporting tools. The coordinator will collaborate with faculty, staff, and partners to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency across research, evaluation, and program management processes.
Work is conducted in alignment with the mission and goals of the School of Public Health, emphasizing evidence-based practice, program improvement, and workforce development in occupational safety and health.

Duties include:

  • Reviews Federal, State, Local, and industry requirements and guidelines to support the design, development, and continuous improvement of occupational safety and health curriculum.
  • Performs outreach activities engaging stakeholders, including conducting community needs assessments and facilitatingcollaboration, to increase awareness of occupational safety and health issues across Region 2 (NJ, NY, PR, and USVI).
  • Schedules training, identify and assign course instructors, develop and update course curricula, perform evaluation of trainingprograms.
  • Coordinate and oversee small and large offsite continuing education events for professionals and communityorganizations.
  • Support the preparation of conference presentations, journal submissions, and public-facing materials thatcommunicate program impacts.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree is required preferably in Public Health, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Three (3) years of relevant work experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and technical documentation.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and present information to groups.
  • Excellent interpersonal, administrative and computer skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and work collaboratively in diverse teams.
  • Must be a team-player, innovative and a self-starter with motivation to contribute to the overall goals of the school/university.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with the highest levels of university administration, as well as executives elsewhere in the public health sector.
  • Performs professional level work that requires knowledge of program coordination, data management, and evaluation principles and the application and use of concepts, theories, and terminology of the organization.
  • Must have an understanding of workplace safety and health standards.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree preferably in Public Health, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in occupational safety and/or public health.
  • Experience in survey design, program evaluation, and statistical analysis
  • Familiarity with Institutional Review Board (IRB) processe
  • Experience with data collection, management, and reporting systems such as Qualtrics, or similar platforms
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (special consideration for any experience with Power BI) for data analysis and visualization.
  • Experience organizing and maintaining shared files and workflows in platforms such as Box, SharePoint, or Teams
  • Experience coordinating multi-partner projects including tracking deliverables, timelines, and reporting requirements
  • Experience using Microsoft Teams for collaboration and communication
