Microbiology Intern

Precise Systems seeks Biology Interns to assist with research and laboratory studies supporting the Department of Defense's mission in biomedical defense. Working in coordination with a senior principal investigator, the microbiology intern will participate in the research, development, and efficacy testing of antimicrobials on military relevant surfaces.

Duties:

• Development of innovative antimicrobial technologies and measuring their efficacy
• Cultivation of surrogate biological agents to determine proof-of-concept for high-risk decontamination measures
• Conduct decontamination studies, growth curve set-up, DNA extraction, protein expression and qPCR
• Use of laboratory instrumentation including micropipettes, analytical balances, pH meters, UV-Vis. Spectrophotometers, and colorimeters
• Prepare for laboratory research projects, maintains laboratory equipment and ensures laboratory cleanliness standards are met
• Assist in the collection, organization, and analysis of scientific data using appropriate statistical methods, interpreting findings to support program objectives.

Required Experience:

• Undergraduate in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.

Required Education:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.

Compensation at Precise Systems is determined by various factors, including education, experience, skills, competencies, and contract-specific requirements. The salary range for this position is $42,333.13 - $65,880.11 (annualized USD). This range represents the standard pay for this role and is just one component of Precise Systems' total compensation package.
