The college is governed by the University of Arkansas System Board of Trustees and a seven-member Board of Visitors and derives its support largely from student tuition and fees and legislative appropriations. Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties:Continually seeks, in consultation with departmental faculty and Program Director, new and innovative measures to improve or enhance instructional capabilities and procedures. Assists with Department-level advising. Monitors student activities including performance, evaluations, and preceptorships. Facilitates accreditation from national organizations. Provides up-to-date knowledge and materials as well as collects data for students to employ to become registered practitioners. Assists the Director in collaborations and partnerships with community and educational sectors such as hospitals, clinics, physician offices, registries, and other healthcare delivery facilities. Contributes to decision-making on policies and problem-solving. Participates in communication between all constituents/affiliates, both internal and external. Assists the Program Director in support for the Department's Mission and Goals. Serves as a member of any college teams and committees as required. Ensures the coordination of curriculum delivery to include planning/assessment for meeting the needs of the HIT students as deemed by the CAHIIM and AHIMA goals.Candidates must possess a thorough knowledge of the teaching field, a demonstrated commitment to student success with a student-centered approach to education, a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and effectiveness, an understanding and appreciation of an applied approach to the study of the discipline, and a willingness to follow the approved departmental curriculum established by the department chair, and dean. Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to student development in and outside of the classroom. Candidates must also have ability to communicate and work effectively with students, college faculty and staff, and the community. Directly supervises students when on clinical rotations and/or with VLab clinicals. May supervise student assistants with work and/or projects. Additional Job Duties *Provide day-to-day supervision of the Professional Medical Coding (PMC) program to ensure adequate attention, instruction and competence needed by entry-level coding professionals *Oversee all didactic coding content, labs, and coding clinical rotations for both HIT and PMC program students *Provide academic advising and counseling of all Professional Medical Coding students *Maintain all coding credentials and professional development required for accreditation purposes. *Work collaboratively and injunction with the HIT Program Director in developing strategic and operational goals and assessment of the PMC program *Support the HIT program director in achieving and maintain accreditation of the PMC program through the American Health Information Management Association's Professional Certificate Approval Program (PCAP) for Coding Certificate Programs Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree (BS) with RHIA credential and two years related experience and/or training. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree. Community college teaching experience. Experience with online course development and instruction (Blackboard, Moodle, Angel, etc).
