Position Overview The Associate Product Owner will closely work with the lead product owner in a learning and supportive capacity, helping coordinate the activities with internal stakeholders, enterprise architects, software developers, quality assurance, customer experience, contractors, and third-party vendors to drive flawless development of critical software products. The associate product owner will help gather, define, and translate user needs and business requirements into viable software product requirements and visual artifacts across the software development lifecycle. As we operate in a regulated Genomics CLIA laboratory, producing clear and concise requirements and documentation is of the utmost importance. Essential Duties Include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Support the development of technical software solutions during the product lifecycle throughout conceptualization, product roadmap development, execution, and launch based on a deep understanding of user needs, jobs-to-be-done, user journeys, and business goals.
- Support clinical genomics sample-to-answer workflows by gathering business requirements and interpreting user needs.
- Assist lead product owner to collaborate with stakeholders and project team to define, prioritize, and complete software requirements for features prioritized in the software product backlog and roadmap
- Translate conceptual user requirements into functional requirements, epics, user stories, and use case stories in a clear manner that is comprehensible to software development scrum teams.
- Proactively learn the current business processes and conceptualize solutions to create efficiencies around them.
- Assist with planning, scheduling, and tracking of sprints and deliverables using appropriate tools for multiple software development and implementation projects.
- Help facilitating sprint grooming, sprint planning and software delivery across multiple onshore and offshore scrum teams using Agile methodology.
- Provide regular progress reports, requirement documentation, user needs documentation, and demos for assigned features to end-users and stakeholders.
- Contribute to the analysis, management, and tracking the status of requirements throughout the product and development lifecycle; enforce and redefine, as necessary.
- Participate in the development of flow diagrams, process and dataflow maps, wireframes, and prototypes with detailed product requirements to facilitate a better understanding of end-user use cases, pain points, and opportunities to guide the software development team.
- Build business area expertise to support developers and software quality assurance (QA) during the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Learn and start providing insight to the Software Quality Assurance (QA) team to develop verification, integration, and validation test plans and protocols.
- Provide end-user support in response to service requests, as needed.
- Ability to work in a team environment.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics, or related field as outlined in the essential duties; or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics, or related field as outlined in the essential.
- 1+ years of experience in Agile/Scrum or equivalent software development lifecycle.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in computer science, Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics, or related field as outlined in the essential duties.
- 1+ years of direct work experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or Business Analyst in genomics, healthcare, or in a laboratory.
- Contributed to develop and launch product to successful completion in the lens of excellent user and customer experience.
- Has experience in developing complex and sophisticated clinical software and informatics solution to support next generation sequencing workflows.
- Understands how to apply user research and experience design to optimize human and computer interactions.
- 1+ years of experience as a Program Manager, Scrummaster, or Project Manager.
- Exhibits effective communication through various forms or written and verbal communication to team members who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines.
- Technically competent with various software programs, such as Jira, Confluence, Visio, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Capable of working on multiple software development products/projects at the same time.
- Capacity to pivot promptly and efficiently when project adjustments and alterations arise.

Salary Range:
The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - CA - San Diego on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible.
