Job Title: Lead Computer Operator

Duration: 12 months

Location: Columbia, SC (Onsite)

Schedule: Typical office hours - *occasional after-hours support (i.e logging onto the network)


Interviews: Onsite - 30-60 minutes with Manager and other team members

Duties:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day activities/assignments of Computer Operations staff (assigned shifts), and the follow-up of their work performance. Responsible for day-to-day operations, ensuring scheduled work is completed on time, as well as accounting for unscheduled production and maintenance. Works closely, and in coordination with, other operators to ensure proper knowledge and task turnover takes place between shifts. Identifies and resolves computer system problems.
  • 30% Trains, motivates, and guides assigned staff. Assigns, reviews, and approves the work of assigned staff. Provides input to management regarding staff performance.
  • 20% Manages the daily activities to resolve problems and change management issues. Provides advice/guidance to lower-level Operators on the resolution of complex scheduling conflicts, computer malfunctions, program/system malfunctions and other irregularities.
  • 20% Operates and monitors computer system and related equipment, ensuring all batch cycles are completed by deadline. Reads production schedules, job request forms, and job documentation to determine what jobs to run, what procedures to follow and what input data to obtain. Responsible for production systems' online response time.
  • 10% Identifies/monitors and diagnoses system problems, initiates corrective action where possible. Monitors system for possible hardware or software problems Troubleshoots and provides advice on data center equipment problems.
  • 10% Compiles and maintains reports relative to computer operations as required. Reviews equipment logs and reports on equipment efficiency.
  • 10% Works with IT groups to ensure service objectives are met. Reviews technical support process and products and recommends quality improvements. Reviews all changes scheduled for their shift window and provides orderly transition of new or revised work to succeeding shift as appropriate.



The Team:

  • A small IT Operations team of 10-13 professionals supporting TPA operations. Responsibilities include helpdesk services, FTP operations, workstation deployment and support, software analysts and development in support of multiple lines of business, and the execution of daily, weekly, and monthly operational tasks such as claims batch loading and reporting.
  • Training and development is encouraged. Respect work-life boundaries. Mistakes are learning opportunities.



Day To Day:

  • Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities/assignments of helpdesk operations staff (4-6 on staff), and the follow-up of their work performance.
  • Responsible for day-to-day operations of operators, specialists and technicians, ensuring scheduled work is completed on time, as well as accounting for unscheduled production and maintenance.
  • Identifies and resolves computer system problems



Skills and Abilities:

  • Maintains tape libraries
  • Monitors computing platforms
  • Notifies customers of problems
  • Operates console systems
  • Troubleshoots computing platforms



Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent



Required Work Experience:

  • 5 years experience in the operation and support of a variety of computer systems.



We Prefer That You Have:

* Helpdesk or technical supporting setting experience.

* CompTIA A+ Certification is preferred but not required.
