How you will make an Impact (Job Summary) SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Senior Process Engineer, you will be the process owner for all metal fabrication processes within your area of responsibility-including CNC punches, lasers, and brake presses. A successful incumbent will drive process reliability, optimize equipment performance, and ensure consistent quality output through the application of data-driven engineering principles. A hands-on approach on the shop floor is essential to achieving operational goals. The incumbent will also be expected to collaborate across shifts and provide technical leadership to strengthen manufacturing capability and process control. What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities) While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
- Operational Execution:
- Develop, implement, and maintain process documentation, setup parameters, and standard work for CNC punching, laser cutting, and press brake operations.
- Analyze production data to identify inefficiencies, manage process variations, and drive improvements in throughput, quality, and safety.
- Support daily SQDC reviews with Operations Management by providing process performance insights and recommended corrective actions.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma tools to reduce waste, shorten cycle times, and improve equipment reliability.
- Define and manage process metrics, dashboards, and performance tracking systems to ensure alignment with production goals.
- Provide requirements and technical justification for process and equipment upgrades, including capital expenditure projects for new machinery or automation.
- Perform detailed root-cause analysis of performance losses or quality defects and ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Work closely with maintenance and production teams to troubleshoot equipment performance issues and optimize up time. Support or lead Capital Expenditure projects from a process perspective, including requirements definition, business case development, justification, and implementation of new equipment, tooling, automation.

- Identify opportunities to enhance equipment capability, optimize processing parameters, and improve overall manufacturing efficiency.
- Lead cross-functional projects focused on process modernization, automation integration, and material flow optimization.
- Participate in facility layout and workflow design initiatives to ensure efficient use of space and resources.
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education) We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has: Required Experience
- 5+ years of combined/relevant experience in a high-mix, metal fabrication manufacturing environment (CNC punches, lasers, brake presses, and related equipment).
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Process improvement using Industrial Engineering, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma principles.
- Development and implementation of process metrics and performance dashboards.
- Creation and maintenance of standard work, setup sheets, and work instructions for CNC and forming operations.
- Facility, cell layout, and material flow design to improve throughput and reduce WIP.
- Shop floor process control, troubleshooting, and optimization of machine utilization and cycle times.
- Strong, hands-on problem-solving skills with a proactive approach and regular presence on the shop floor.
- Experience supporting capital projects, equipment selection, and process validation for new or upgraded fabrication equipment.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment with changing priorities.
- Demonstrated initiative, desire to drive change, and motivation to exceed SQDC and operational targets.
- Self-directed, objective, and open-minded thinker with strong organizational and follow-through skills.
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) and/or APICS/CPIM certification.
- Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills, including experience with OEE, SPC, and capacity analysis.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) for routing, BOMs, and production order management.
- Familiarity with 2D CAD for layouts and tooling/fixture documentation; 3D modeling experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across all organizational levels, from operators to leadership.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement methodologies, and structured problem-solving (A3, 8D, DMAIC).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook).
- HazMat or equivalent safety-related certification is a plus.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Technology or related field.
