Position Title: Carrier Sales Manager
Wage: $100,000 - $125,000/year Our client in Des Plaines, IL is a 3PL leader in liquid bulk transportation solutions, streamlining complex shipments, prioritizing safety and compliance, and delivering reliable service across North America. The Carrier Sales Manager will play a key role in expanding carrier partnerships and strengthening the company's transportation network. The Carrier Sales Manager is responsible for building and managing relationships with trucking carriers, negotiating capacity and rates, and ensuring a strong, quality carrier network to support business growth. This role blends sales acumen with logistics expertise to secure reliable service capacity that meets client and operational needs. Carrier Sales Manager Responsibilities: - Identify, recruit, and onboard qualified carriers specializing in liquid bulk freight and related transportation services - Maintain an active portfolio of carriers to meet volumes, service expectations and lane requirements - Negotiate competitive carrier rates, terms and contracts to optimize operational costs and service reliability - Present value propositions that align carriers with service standards - Serve as the primary point of contact for carriers, fostering long-term partnerships and ensuring timely communication - Resolve carrier issues and provide support during operational challenges - Forecast carrier capacity needs and proactively secure service in high-demand lanes - Collaborate with Operations and Customer Success teams to align carrier commitments with client expectations - Track carrier performance metrics (on-time pickup/delivery, compliance, safety, claims) and take corrective action when necessary - Maintain updated carrier profiles and documentation in the company TMS - Deliver regular reports on carrier performance, market trends, and revenue impact - Meet and exceed established KPIs such as carrier acquisition targets, service quality scores, and margin goals Qualifications for Carrier Sales Manager: - 5+ years of sales or carrier management experience in freight brokerage, 3PL logistics, or transportation services - Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills with carriers and transportation partners - Knowledge of freight markets, trucking capacity dynamics, and rate negotiation strategies - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal - Proficiency with TMS systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) - Experience working with liquid bulk freight or specialized freight lanes preferred - Understanding of compliance, safety standards, and carrier insurance requirements preferred - Strategic thinker with ability to identify carrier market opportunities - Detail-oriented and highly organized - Results-driven with a strong sense of ownership - Problem solver who thrives in a dynamic logistics environment What We Offer: - Competitive salary plus performance-based commission or bonus plan - Benefits package (health insurance, retirement plan, PTO) - Professional development and growth opportunities in a fast-paced logistics company | |
