Job Summary-

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS) is seeking an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Intern to join our St. Marks EHS Team. In this role, you will work on projects that impact worker safety throughout the St. Marks location. You will gain hands-on experience with EHS practices, policies, and strategy that will help propel the organization forward.



Responsibilities-

    As part of a team, maintain a safe work environment, support all work areas and processes with environment, safety and health related issues.
  • Assist the Senior Manager of EH&S in the preparation of metrics reports and submittal to corporate.
  • Assist with root cause analysis during incident investigations.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, administration of safety, and health programs.
  • Conduct various types of training according to EH&S standards.
  • Coordinate internal audit and cultural assessment schedules.
  • Conduct audits and updates of the Management Alert System and Flash Report distribution.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities to improve EHS programs and data collection activities.


Qualifications-

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Safety, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and technical abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel. Experience with advanced tools such as Microsoft Power BI is not required but is preferred.
  • Must demonstrate organizational and prioritization skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, using discretion and independent judgement.
  • Requires significant adaptability as well as working in a manufacturing environment and the ability to work around machinery.
