As a Conference Concierge for the Banquets Department at the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, you will support the Event Managers and Banquet operations in servicing the meeting planners and convention attendees. Grand Geneva in Lake Geneva is a 1,300 acre, AAA Four Diamond resort and spa recognized as a Top Resort in the Midwest by Conde Nast Traveler. This award-winning, all-seasons destination features over 746 guest accommodations, the WELL Spa & Salon, two championship golf courses, fitness facilities, a ski hill and terrain park, and 9 unique food and beverage outlets. What will you be doing? * Be identifiable, visible, and accessible at all times to our meeting planners and guests * Communicate with the contact and review your role with each group contact, know their meeting agenda, hot buttons, special needs, etc. * Know all the facilities of the hotel and their hours of operation * Inform Event Managers and banquet staff of any last minute changes such as location change * Update Delphi with last minute changes * Identify possibility for catering and opportunity for audio and visual upsell * Walk all meeting spaces with banquets prior to the guest arriving as to assure that banquet staff has completed their checklists and everything is in order as specified * Ensure all requested food and beverage, audio visual, and special requests have been correctly placed * Review and complete Personal Event checklist * Ensure guests know how to contact you * Assist guests with all needs related to their meeting room set-up * Confirm timing and guarantees for food and beverage * Attend BEO, Pre-Con, and Huddle meetings * Plan the "post-con" meetings with clients, Event Manager(s), and banquets staff * Monitor pre-function areas to ensure they are clean and ready for the events * Deliver and retrieve faxes and handle mail as requested for client * Suggest and make reservations for dinner, local attractions, and sightseeing * Be active in preventative maintenance around the hotel * Prepare and deliver or mail thank you notes to contacts upon departure * Assist the Director of Event on special projects when not busy with groups, such as working on new menus, updating Delphi, forecasting reports, etc. * Perform other duties as assigned What do you bring to the role? * Previous hotel and/or Banquets and Catering experience preferred * Good leadership qualities * Personable with good people skills * Displays a commitment to hospitality * Communicates well, written and verbally, with others * Good organizational skills * Must be determined and be able to work with minimum supervision * Total commitment to guest satisfaction * Ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs * Ability to verbally communicate effectively with guests and co-workers * Dexterity for pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, and upward reaching throughout the shift * Ability to use provided cleaning products effectively and safely * Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking * Ability to multi-task in a high paced environment What's in it for you? * A free, well-balanced meal every shift * Discounted gym membership * Room discounts at Marcus Hotels & Resorts * Discounts at Marcus Hotels & Resorts restaurants, cafes, lounges, golfing, skiing, and spa * Free parking * "Two for one" movie theater coupons at Marcus Theatres * Ability to grow your career and transfer from one property to another * Early wage access * Paid time off * Flexible scheduling * Medical, dental, and vision insurance (offered after 30 days of employment), company-paid life insurance, employee assistance program offer, and 401k with employer match * And more!
