Assistant Professor of Medicine at the CUMC - Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine

The Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine in the Department of Medicine is seeking a full-time faculty member to join its growing and highly collaborative division. The Division oversees ambulatory programs within ColumbiaDoctors, the Faculty Practice Organization, and inpatient clinical programs with NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (NYP) in both Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine. Faculty practice across two NYP campuses.

Clinical Programs

The Division delivers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services:



  • Inpatient Palliative Medicine Consult Services: Over 1,700 new consults and 8,800 follow-up visits annually.
  • Palliative Care Admit Team (PCAT): A specialized mobile unit providing 24-hour in-house coverage for acute symptom management and end-of-life care.
  • Cardiac Supportive Care Service: Provides palliative care for complex cardiovascular patients, including those undergoing LVAD placement.
  • Outpatient Palliative Medicine Service: More than 300 new patient visits and 1,300 follow-up visits annually.


Position Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include a combination of:



  • Inpatient and/or outpatient clinical care in Geriatrics and/or Palliative Medicine
  • Teaching and mentoring trainees across multiple disciplines
  • Participation in interdisciplinary care models
  • Engagement in quality improvement, education, and/or research, based on candidate interests


  • Medical Doctor (MD) or equivalent medical professional degree.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Hospice and Palliative Medicine and/or Geriatric Medicine
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in New York
  • Commitment to interdisciplinary, patient-centered care, education, and academic collaboration
