THE OPPORTUNITY/POSITION DESCRIPTION

This opportunity to join the Department of Pediatrics at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Pediatrics is an exciting one. Columbia University Irving Medical Center, one of the nation's foremost academic health science center's working together with one of the nation's premier health systems, New York-Presbyterian Hospital. The Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center and Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York-Presbyterian seeks a full-time pediatric cardiologist in Noninvasive Imaging. The desired candidate will have experience in 2D/3D echocardiography, procedural imaging, advanced functional analysis and quality improvement to lead a high-volume academic noninvasive imaging laboratory. The desired candidate must be board certified in Pediatric Cardiology and will have completed an advanced fellowship in Imaging

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* The primary responsibility of this position will be as an academic clinical pediatric cardiologist specializing in Non-Invasive Imaging and Fetal Cardiology. Provides all aspects of care and consultation, direct and indirect, to this complex patient population.

* Maintain timely and complete EPIC chart notes, reports, and communication with primary care/referring physicians and other relevant subspecialty physicians. Participate in multidisciplinary clinical management initiatives with other subsections within Pediatric Cardiology.

* Participate in division and department quality improvement initiatives and curriculum development, including within the department.

* Maintains varied hours on a rotated schedule with other physicians to ensure that there is always a physician on-call during non-business hours.

* Attend patient rounds and complete consultation and inpatient notes. Comply with all billing, coding, documentation, and regulatory requirements.

* Participate in divisional conferences, Department of Pediatrics grand rounds, morbidity and mortality conferences, and faculty development education. Support cardiac clinical educational programs for nursing, medical students, residents, fellows, ancillary staff, and ARNPs, etc.

* Serve as a role model to trainees, colleagues and staff, and provide behavioral based feedback to team members as needed.

* Additional clinical responsibilities will include outpatient Cardiology coverage and inpatient service as well as conference preparation and on-call duties.



  • Academic advancement along an investigator, educational and/or applied health care tract is expected and supported depending on present rank.

* Must have a MD or DO degree and an active NYS Medical License

* Must be Board certification in Pediatric Cardiology.
