Description
Who We Are Aptima is a technological leader in the national security industry. Our mission is to drive the future of national security by engineering scalable solutions that fuse technological innovation with human potential to transform how individuals and teams train, develop, and perform in mission-critical environments. Our culture is rooted in our core values, which have evolved over time and our employees have embraced: Integrity, Ingenuity, Excellence, Respect, Engagement, Teamwork. At our core, Aptima researches, develops, and innovates within an area that engineering firms largely ignore, the human component. To impact the world in meaningful ways, you must bring those innovations to light, and that is precisely what we do. Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute quantitative analyses and experiments to address applied research questions in behavioral, organizational, and socio-technical domains.
- Develop statistical models, simulations, and psychometric analyses to evaluate complex human and system performance phenomena.
- Build and maintain analytic pipelines, custom metrics, and indices using real-world, imperfect datasets.
- Collaborate with engineers and data scientists to define data requirements, features, and evaluation metrics for integrated technical systems.
- Translate analytical results into clear, actionable insights for scientific, technical, and non-technical stakeholders.
- Communicate findings through written reports, visualizations, and briefings for project teams and clients.
- Apply reproducible research practices including version control, documentation, and transparent analysis workflows.
- Contribute to multiple concurrent research efforts while adapting to evolving project requirements and priorities.
Requirements
- MS or PhD (PhD preferred) in I-O Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Human Factors, Cognitive/Social Psychology, Sociology, or a related quantitative field.
- Strong background in quantitative methods, including regression (linear, generalized, mixed-effects), multivariate analysis, psychometric modeling, simulation (e.g., Monte Carlo), and experimental design.
- Proficiency in Python and/or R for data analysis, modeling, simulation, and visualization.
- Experience designing, validating, and interpreting analyses using complex, real-world datasets.
- Experience developing custom metrics, indices, and analytic pipelines to operationalize behavioral or organizational constructs.
- Ability to translate quantitative findings into clear insights for scientists, engineers, and non-technical stakeholders; strong data storytelling skills.
- Familiarity with the full applied research lifecycle, from problem formulation and measurement design through reporting and presentation.
- Comfort collaborating in multidisciplinary technical environments and understanding how analytics integrate into larger systems.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
Preferred Requirements
- Experience in government, defense, healthcare, or other high-stakes operational domains.
- Familiarity with human-AI teaming, decision-support systems, or socio-technical system evaluation.
- Experience mentoring junior researchers or analysts.
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, disability, protected veteran status or any other status protected by applicable national, federal, state or local law.
