This leader will design and implement the operational frameworks necessary to maintain high-quality outputs while increasing efficiency. The ideal candidate is a process-oriented individual who understands the nuances of professional services-managing technical talent, optimizing billable utilization, and ensuring that project lifecycles from kickoff to final deliverable are seamless and profitable.

Responsibilities

Service Delivery Excellence: Lead the standardization of project delivery frameworks across all service lines to ensure consistency, quality, and scalability.
  • Resource Optimization: Manage the master schedule and resource planning for the business unit; ensure optimal utilization of staff while balancing workload to prevent burnout.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve operational workflows to reduce friction, eliminate redundancies, and increase the overall speed of delivery.
  • Financial Performance: Monitor project health and profitability; work closely with project managers to manage scope creep, track budgets, and improve realized margins.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison between technical delivery teams, sales, and finance to ensure clear communication and alignment on project goals.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Develop and maintain operational dashboards to provide leadership with real-time visibility into utilization, project status, and team performance.
  • Talent Development: Support the growth of the professional staff by identifying skill gaps, facilitating training, and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous learning.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in operations, project management, or management consulting within a professional services or consulting firm.
5+ years in a management or leadership role with direct responsibility for technical staff and direct responsibility of a P&L.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Engineering, or a related professional field.
MBA or equivalent advanced degree is highly preferred.
  • Certifications
PMP (Project Management Professional), Certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, or Agile methodologies are strongly preferred.
  • Other Skills
Operational Strategy: Proven ability to build and implement operational systems that support rapid revenue growth.
Client Relationship Management: Ability to step into high-stakes client meetings to discuss project delivery, timelines, and technical requirements.
Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of professional services finance, including billable hours, overhead, utilization rates, and P&L management.
Mergers and Acquisition Integration: Experience with integration of an acquired business's staff, process and systems to ensure continuity of profit.
Software Proficiency: Advanced experience with Project Management systems, CRM platforms, and resource planning tools.
Leadership: Exceptional communication skills and the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of professionals.
