Requisition Number:R157869 Oncology & Palliative Nursing Director (Open) How You'll Help Transform Healthcare:*Sign on Bonus Eligible & Relocation Assistance Provided* Our Oncology unit is a 22-bed blended medical-surgical/progressive cancer care unit that specializes in the complex care of the Oncology patient. Nurses utilize the science and art of nursing while collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to meet the needs of the patient and family. We are a Commission on Cancer (COC) accredited facility. The Palliative Care unit is an adult inpatient medical-surgical unit with 10 private patient rooms that have excellent views of the Roanoke Valley. Comprised of Registered Nurses and Nursing Assistants, our nursing team is specially trained at providing care for people living with serious illness. Palliative Care focuses on relief of symptoms and stressors of a serious illness. Our focus is patient centered, and with the Palliative Care team, we provide interprofessional assessment and comprehensive management of patients' and families' physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and bereavement needs. The Nursing Director oversees day to day operations and manages goals and objectives including organizing, managing and controlling department functions and resources in a collaborative and participative manner for optimal performance of service. These include throughput of unit, quality, patient experience, employee engagement, assistance with goals and budget development and stewardship (accountability of budgets/fiscal operations as budget allows). What We Require: Education: Graduate of school of professional nursing. BSN Required Experience: Minimum 5 years or equivalent experience in a leadership or management positions in a healthcare environment including clinical and operational expertise. Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required. Other Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrates effective team building and leadership skills. Must possess ability to synthesize data. Demonstrates excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, team leadership, priority setting and work competency skills. Promotes a respectful, inclusive culture of service excellence. In Psychiatry and Behavioral Health must possess ability to appropriately handle/restrain patients who may be disruptive and/or physically violent. In Psychiatry and Behavioral Health, de-escalation training must be successfully completed within four months of hire and then maintained going forward.
