The Position

The Enabling Science group delivers seamless, efficient, and compliant operational support across finance, contracting, submissions, and quality for Development Sciences (DevSci) and Translational Medicine (TM) within gRED. Among its financial responsibilities are the management of FTE, project variable cost (PVC), and functional spend budgeting. The team provides analytical tools that automate and simplify spend tracking while generating insights to drive data-informed decision-making and operational improvements aligned to key objectives. The group also manages resource planning for innovation initiatives and capital investments, including support for equipment lifecycle management and space improvement.

As the Business Systems Analyst, you will support the design, development, and maintenance of automated, low-code solutions and integrations to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and translate defined business requirements into scalable, validated applications aligned to KPIs. The BSA collaborates closely with cross-functional partners to deliver reliable insights, support portfolio and operational reporting, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

The Position

Operational Solutions Development & Resource Management

  • Identifies, analyzes, and documents operational improvement and simplification opportunities within specific functional areas, contributing directly to broader efficiency and performance goals.

  • Supports the translation of business needs into initial functional requirements and explores practical use cases for Low-Code/No-Code platforms to deliver simple, scalable solutions.

  • Facilitates discussions with cross-functional stakeholders to gather inputs, clarify requirements, and align on operational challenges, improvement opportunities, and solution approaches.
    Works closely with leadership, senior analysts, and developers to assess operational pain points, support solution design, and drive continuous process improvement initiatives.

  • Assists across the full solution lifecycle-from conceptualization and configuration to testing, deployment, user support, and maintenance-with increasing ownership of independently developed solutions.

  • Contributes to configuring, testing, and maintaining integrations with Roche-approved platforms while performing quality checks and tracking technology or process issues to resolution.

  • Provides transparency and analytical insights into DevSci PVC spend across molecules and development phases to identify trends, risks, and potential savings opportunities.

  • Supports resource management activities by maintaining and documenting study specifications and resource algorithms, performing data entry and programming in the central portfolio management database, and ensuring accurate, compliant portfolio demand and time-coding data for planning and reporting.

  • Contributes to portfolio demand reporting, analytics development, and preparation of senior leadership materials, applying resource management best practices to support annual planning and drive continuous process improvement.

  • Performs data analysis and supports the development of portfolio analytics and presentation materials to inform planning, decision-making, and senior leadership discussions.

  • Collaborates with internal teams (e.g., Computational Sciences CoE, IT, data analytics functions) to facilitate operational execution, ensure data integrity, and contribute to ongoing process and system improvements.

Operational Excellence Support

  • Assists with administrative tasks for DevSci and TM tools, workflows, and solutions (e.g., Contract Request Tool, PVC Dashboards, Functional Spend Management Tools), supporting data accuracy, system functionality, and operational data maintenance across financials, contracts, and vendors.

  • Provides end-user support by developing user guides, maintaining technical documentation, providing in-person training and addressing common questions, while learning and applying best practices for solution stability and business continuity.

  • Participates in functional and cross-functional meetings and initiatives to support broader financial and operational programs and gain organizational exposure.

  • Performs additional tasks as assigned to support ongoing financial and operational activities.

Who You Are
  • You have a Bachelor's degree, preferably in a STEM (Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or similar) discipline.

  • You have 3-5 years of hands-on experience supporting the development, customization, and implementation of technical application solutions, including automation workflows and dashboards.

  • Intermediate proficiency in configuring, customizing, or integrating Low-Code/No-Code applications (e.g., Spotfire, Tableau, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office tools).

  • Hands-on experience with GenAI models (e.g., LLMs) applied to workflow automation or productivity use cases.

  • General understanding of systems architecture concepts, key design patterns, and object-oriented analysis; able to contribute to scalable, data-driven solutions.

  • Familiar with foundational IT concepts, enthusiastic about learning release management, version control, deployment practices, and developing expertise in modern web-based technologies, particularly Low-Code/No-Code platforms for business and technical applications.

  • Exposure to project delivery methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Scrum) with experience in supporting project coordination activities.

  • Prior experience in scientific or technical environments, collaborating with scientists/engineers; pharma/biotech experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to understand projects end-to-end across gRED and the broader Roche organization, including awareness of stakeholders, dependencies, and downstream impacts.

  • Demonstrated ability to execute assigned projects or workstreams from concept through implementation with limited supervision.

  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and earn the trust of business partners.

  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain organization, and manage time effectively.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Relocation benefits are not available for this posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $112,700.00 - 209,300.00 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
