Position summary

The VP Sales will lead the sales division of the US Vaccines business unit, with over 550 employees and help to run a $4.7B vaccines business encompassing a broad range of Adult and Pediatric diseases. This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the Business Unit Head of US Vaccines.

This role involves driving strategic initiatives and successfully executing operational plans. The operational model includes sales, marketing, trade, strategic accounts, and new product strategy supported by an integrated sales and operations team. Collaboration with stakeholders globally and within the US business is essential. The role focuses on expanding market presence, optimizing business performance, and achieving financial targets. Leadership demands a visionary approach to guide a high-performing team and work with cross-functional partners to support GSK's mission of delivering innovative vaccines.

The team operates in a Regional Sales and Account Management model, and includes a Commercial Enablement Team comprised of Operations, Training, Field Business Partners and a distinct, virtual Contract Sales Team.

Key Responsibilities in Detail
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the strategic vision and business plan for the vaccines division, aligning with GSK's overall objectives.

  • Capability Building: Enhance capabilities of your leaders in the areas of contracting, account management, performance management, data driven decision making, and operational execution (pull-through of brand strategy, patient types, hit lead metrics).

  • Operational Leadership: Establish a culture of high standards and governance to measure pull-through and execution.

  • Financial Management: Oversee the financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management, ensuring revenue and profitability goals are met.

  • Market Expansion: Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities, market trends, and partnerships.

  • Team Leadership: Lead and inspire a diverse team, fostering collaboration, innovation, and excellence, while managing team development and performance.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, healthcare providers, and industry partners to advance our medicines.

  • Shape Strategy Through Insights: Work with marketing VPs to shape in-line strategy and future opportunities to deliver plan; scenario plan competitors and influence global marketing.

  • Compliance and Quality: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and GSK's internal policies, maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

  • Communication: Act as the spokesperson for the vaccines division, effectively communicating the value and impact of GSK's vaccines.

Basic Criteria
  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience in Vaccines

  • Experience in Account Management

  • Direct people management experience and matrix team leadership

  • 8+ years' commercial experience in life sciences sales/marketing, including minimum of 4 years leading sales as a second line leader (or higher).

  • Performance Management of high and low performers

  • Category/disease and product strategy development

  • Customer insights, messaging, campaign development

  • Agency management

  • Budget management

  • Experience in US healthcare
