Job Summary: The Supervisor- Echocardiology possesses exceptional skills in assessment and appropriate application of cardiac echocardiography. Is responsible for the coordination of Echo Services. Resolves technical problems and performs quality assessment studies. Supervises echo Sonographer, ancillary personnel, and satellites of the department with scheduling of personnel for daily coverage and "On Call". Coordinates equipment repairs and service agreements within these areas of designated responsibility. Acquires and maintains Echo Lab accreditation requirements. Assures smooth operation of the Echo Department, including billing processes. Performs other duties as needed. Education and Experience: Associate's Degree, Completion of Diagnostic Ultrasound Program required. Minimum five years' experience in echo sonography. Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of all cardiac and vascular ultrasound modalities ( (e.g. 2D, Mode, Doppler, color flow, transesophageal, stress echo, arterial and venous ultrasound imaging and measurements) Able to read, write legibly, speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, fax, software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment; perform technical patient care activities. Be assertive and consistent in following and or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond with courtesy when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach and collaborate; accept direction. Communicate effectively in English, in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically, perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; resolve; recall information; pay close attention to detail. Uses independent judgment and initiative. Distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place and patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch. Licensures and Certifications: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) with American Registry For Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in appropriate sub-specialty of department placement (adult echocardiology or pediatric echocardiology); or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) credentialing board in appropriate sub-specialty of department placement (adult echocardiology or pediatric echocardiology).
