| Position Summary |
The Kelada Lab in the
UNC Department of Genetics is seeking a Research Technician to perform experiments using an in vitro lung model to better understand the pathogenesis of asthma and
COPD. These studies involve primary human airway epithelial cells exposed to a variety of agents that induce inflammatory responses, which will be assessed using gene expression analyses.
The Research Technician will receive thorough training in the in vitro cell culture model, learn and apply principles of experimental design, and have opportunities to develop skills in statistical analysis of generated data. Strong attention to detail and effective communication with the research team are essential for success in this role.
This is an ideal job for an applicant taking time between undergraduate and graduate/professional school and will provide ample opportunities to learn highly valuable analytical and communication skills. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. |
| Management Preferences |
Preferred:
- Exposure to course work in Genetics, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field.
- Prior experience in a biomedical research lab
- Experience with techniques such as primary or immortalized cell culture,
PCR, qPCR, or ELISAs
- Experience with statistical analysis of data |
