The Salesforce Digital Enterprise Technology Applications team is looking for a full stack Principal Software Engineer (Principal Member of the Technical Sta, PMTS) to join our Ecosystem Engineering team. This individual will lead the practices, frameworks, and cultural transformation that ensure software across Digital Enterprise Transformation is production-ready, reliable, and high-quality. This leader will define and enforce standards of engineering excellence spanning testing, observability, deployment, and resilience that enable teams to deliver with confidence at enterprise scale.
The role will partner across engineering, product, and platform teams to build modern delivery pipelines, readiness frameworks, and governance models that balance speed and quality. This role is critical in advancing DET's ability to deliver secure, resilient, and performant software, while accelerating the adoption of best practices in engineering maturity.
This job requires that you be a self-starter with the ability to deliver on time with quality and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. You must have good oral and written documentation skills and be able to interact with other team members to deliver fast with quality. You will also be asked to contribute ideas and provide feedback on many projects within the team's portfolio.
The role is instrumental in driving the success of our Salesforce platform implementations for large enterprise clients, with a focus on business-facing solutions. - Define the standards, frameworks, and readiness criteria for software to be considered production-ready.
- Establish measurable gates for quality, security, performance, and resilience throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Partner with observability and reliability to ensure continuous validation of system health before and after release.
- Continuously evolve readiness frameworks based on production learnings, customer impact, and emerging industry practices.
Modern Delivery Practices
- Drive the adoption of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, canary/blue-green deployments, and progressive delivery strategies.
- Champion "shift-left" quality practices, ensuring testing, resilience, and observability are integrated early in the lifecycle.
- Deliver platforms and tooling that make excellence and readiness frictionless for developers.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Collaborate with Product, Platform, and SRE leaders to balance innovation speed with enterprise-grade stability.
- Provide executive-level visibility into delivery readiness metrics, highlighting risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Advocate for cultural transformation toward ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- At least 12 years of professional software engineering experience delivering production systems at scale.
- Proven track record designing and shipping solutions that improve delivery velocity and software reliability across multiple teams.
- Deep expertise in modern software delivery practices including: CI/CD pipeline architecture, automated testing strategies, release safety patterns (canary/blue-green, progressive delivery), operational readiness and production validation.
- Experience working with Apex, Experience Cloud, Service Cloud, and JavaScript.
- Strong understanding of microservices architecture and experience building scalable, maintainable systems.
- Proficiency with Heroku and its ecosystem of add-ons such as Heroku Connect, NGINX, and Redis is essential.
- Comfortable working with Docker, including building and managing Dockerfiles and Docker Compose YAML configurations.
- Additionally, candidates must have solid experience with the Salesforce platform, including Lightning Web Components (LWC), Apex, and building performant REST APIs.
- A related technical degree required.
- Proficient in the design and implementation of Web Services.
- Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming concepts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with code reusability, scalable solutions, and design patterns.
- Experience with Agile software development and test-driven development.
- Ability to lead projects and mentor developers in best practices.
- Experience troubleshooting full-service stack, end-to-end ownership.
- Worked on customer-facing applications with high trac volume.
- Ability to present designs to internal/external groups and review designs of others.
- Good knowledge of automation testing frameworks.
- Certifications in Salesforce Admin, Salesforce Developer, and/or Agentforce.
- Experience working in and around the software-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service architectures and/or industry

At Salesforce, we believe in equitable compensation practices that reflect the dynamic nature of labor markets across various regions. The typical base salary range for this position is $197,300 - $313,700 annually. In select cities within the San Francisco and New York City metropolitan area, the base salary range for this role is $237,700 - $344,700 annually. The range represents base salary only, and does not include company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity or benefits, as applicable.
