Exciting Opportunity at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center: Join the Charles Sawyers Lab as a Research Technician! As a member of the Sawyers Lab, you will contribute to research that uncovers how cancer cells grow and develop resistance to targeted therapies - work that has already led to multiple FDA-approved treatments and continues to shape how cancer is treated in the clinic! We are seeking a highly motivated, organized, and creative individual to drive high-impact cancer biology projects. Research will focus on therapy resistance, the tumor microenvironment.

Role Overview:

  • Perform Ground-Breaking Experiments: develop independence under the mentorship of Sawyers' lab member and MSKCC physician-scientist Eric Bent.
  • Collaboration: Assist peers and researchers with ongoing projects, fostering a team-oriented, supportive environment.
  • Techniques & Assays: Perform specialized techniques, such as organoid culture, functional genomic screens, flow cytometry, and other molecular biology and immunology approaches, electrophoresis, TIA, ELISA etc.
  • Animal Handling: Conduct animal studies, including injections, tissue/fluids collection, and animal autopsies.
  • Data Management: Record and analyze research data, prepare reports, and provide insights to the research team.
  • Laboratory Support: Prepare and maintain lab equipment, instruments, solutions, stains, assays, and other essential supplies.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology/life sciences.
  • Basic laboratory skills.
  • This position is ideally suited for candidates able to commit to at least two years, given the depth of training and long-term nature of the projects.

  • Attention to detail and strong record-keeping habits.
  • Ability to follow protocols while troubleshooting when needed.
  • Team-oriented approach to supporting postdocs and fellow researchers.
  • Adaptability in a dynamic lab environment.

Additional Information:

  • Location: NYC; Zuckerman Research Center
  • Schedule: 37.5 hours per week (onsite)

Pay Range: $26.21 - $39.24 FSLA Status: Non-Exempt
