Location: Newark, NJ (Hybrid)

Duration: 12 months

Work Hours: Standard 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM ET

Overtime: May be required during quarter close

Role Overview

We are seeking an Accounting Specialist to support monthly and quarterly close activities for a publicly listed, global organization. This role is hands-on and close-focused, requiring strong ownership of the close calendar, attention to detail, and the ability to work across multiple entities and stakeholders. The position also offers exposure to accounting initiatives, including M&A-related work and system automation projects.


Key Responsibilities
Close & BAU Accounting


  • Review monthly and quarterly journal entries prepared by offshore/shared services teams



  • Manage the quarterly close process against a strict, time-sensitive close calendar



  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of financial close in alignment with Public Controller deadlines



  • Analyze general ledger activity, investigate discrepancies, and resolve reporting issues



  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC requirements, and internal accounting policies




Stakeholder & Business Support


  • Serve as the primary liaison between subsidiary finance teams and corporate accounting stakeholders



  • Provide accounting guidance and support for ongoing business initiatives



  • Assist with accounting treatment, journal documentation, and audit-ready support




Initiatives & M&A Exposure


  • Support non-BAU transactions and special accounting initiatives



  • Gain exposure to M&A accounting activities (training provided)



  • Prepare or review journals related to initiatives as needed




Systems & Automation


  • Support Oracle GL system enhancements and automation initiatives



  • Assist with ad-hoc system-related tasks such as account creation and updates



  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance reporting efficiency and data integrity




Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting



  • 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience



  • Strong understanding of month-end and quarter-end close processes



  • Experience reviewing and analyzing journal entries and general ledger activity



  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and handle multiple priorities




Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience working in a publicly listed company



  • Fortune 500 or large global organization exposure



  • Oracle GL experience (highly preferred)



  • Public accounting background



  • CPA preferred but not required
