Salary Range: $22.44/hr

Position Summary:
The Laboratory Assistant is an entry laboratory research position and will be responsible for the organizing and maintenance of the laboratory and carrying out experiments involving the regulation of astrocyte gene expression in substance use disorders. The Laboratory Assistant must be willing to work on several different projects involving mice as well as drugs of abuse. Experiments will involve operant self-administration

Job Details:
* This is a grant funded position

Required Education and Experience:
* Experience in working with rodents in a laboratory setting

Required Skills and Abilities:
* Highly organized, detailed oriented, ability to work independently
* Appropriate verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
* Organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills

Preferred Education and Experience:
* BA or BS in biology, psychology, neuroscience, or other related degree

Essential Duties:
* Manage purchasing and receiving of supplies
* Maintain detailed records of inventory, mouse colony, SOPs/protocols, and organization of laboratory reagents
* Maintain compliance with IBC, IACUC, and all lab safety requirements
* Manage and maintain mouse husbandry and breeding
* Conduct rodent laboratory experiments, including but not limited to handling and injection of mice and behavioral assays
* Set up and maintain laboratory equipment
* Conduct molecular laboratory experiments, including but not limited to vibratome and cyrostat tissue sectioning, immunofluroscence, in situ hybridization, confocal microscopy, quantitative PCR
* Performs other duties as assigned.
