About this opportunity:
Ericsson's Strategic Business Advisory (SBA) turns technology choices into executive-grade business outcomes. We guide decisions for Ericsson and our customers by quantifying the value of network investments, accelerating time-to-impact, and defending premium differentiation in a market moving faster with AI. As Director, Strategic Business Advisory, you will shape high-stakes decisions across the Americas-helping communications service providers (CSPs) and Ericsson's leadership invest where it creates the most value.
What you will do:
- Lead C-level advisory engagements that connect network performance, cost, and risk to revenue, ROI, and strategic positioning-delivering clear recommendations that drive action.
- Own the end-to-end problem-solving journey: scope, structure, analytics, synthesis, and executive storytelling; set the standard for quality, speed, and rigor.
- Quantify business cases that:
- Increase CSP CapEx toward wireless modernization and high-return use cases.
- Shift spend toward Ericsson by demonstrating superior ROI and time-to-impact. Defend and extend Ericsson footprint, improve win rates, and sustain premium pricing.
- Expand TAM and validate strategic bets for new offerings and market entry.
- Partner with Customer Units (sales and business development) to prioritize and deliver time-boxed, sprint-based engagements; coordinate contributors across Strategy & Technology.
- Apply judicious AI to scale capacity and shorten cycle times without compromising quality; institutionalize reusable assets, models, and methods.
- Coach and grow a high-caliber team (JS4-JS7), cultivating an apprenticeship culture that accelerates learning and impact.
- Engage and influence senior stakeholders inside and outside Ericsson; represent SBA with authority and credibility in executive forums.
The skills you bring:
- Bachelor's in engineering in Telecom or similar; Master's/MBA preferred.
- 5+ years strategy consulting experience leading complex engagements; 3+ years in telecom, cloud, or adjacent tech industry roles (operator, vendor, PE/VC, corporate strategy).
- Recognized problem-solving leadership: ability to dissect ambiguous questions, frame options, and land the answer that moves decisions.
- Executive communication and influence: crisp narratives, defensible logic, and confident presence with senior internal and customer stakeholders.
- Telecom depth and breadth: strong grasp of CSP economics and the network stack (RAN, transport, core, cloud), spectrum and coverage/capacity trade-offs, modernization levers, and monetization pathways for new use cases.
- Financial and analytical fluency: business case design, scenario modeling, TCO/ROI analysis; comfort with large, messy datasets; proficiency in Excel/Slides; familiarity with SQL/Python and BI tools a plus.
- AI-enabled delivery: practical experience using AI to accelerate research, analysis, synthesis, and content creation-paired with high standards for fact-base integrity.
- Leadership and coaching: proven track record developing established and early-career talent; builds trust, sets pace, and raises the bar.
