Grant Accountant - Remote Opportunity

Location: Fully Remote

Position Overview
Vaco is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Grant Accountant for a well-known non-profit organization. This is a fully remote role, with a strong focus on grant processing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process payments to vendors, manage invoicing, issue checks, and process scholarship requests.
  • Reconciliation & Financial Reporting: Reconcile bank accounts, prepare journal entries, and assist in monthly closings.
  • Grant Management: Manage billing for public grants (federal, state, local), track staff time allocations, and generate biweekly reports.
  • Budgeting & Auditing: Assist with budget development, prepare audit schedules, and support external audits.
  • Bank Liaison & Cash Flow: Act as liaison for financial institutions, monitor discrepancies, and maintain healthy cash flow.
  • Fixed Assets & Tax Compliance: Maintain fixed asset schedule, review 1099 forms, and ensure tax compliance.
  • General: Maintain confidentiality, research financial data, and support leadership transitions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, ideally in a non-profit.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, FASB standards, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
  • Proficient in QuickBooks, Raisers Edge, and advanced Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to handle a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with federal, state, and local grant processing.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco notes the salary range for the role as follows: $ 83,200 annually ($40per hour). The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
