Position: Business Services Supervisor - Government Billing Experience Level: Intermediate Location: Newport Beach, CA Employment Type: Full-Time Description We are seeking an experienced and highly knowledgeable Business Services Supervisor to lead and support our Government Billing team. This role oversees hospital billing and collections for Medicare and Medi-Cal, with a strong emphasis on deep, hands-on expertise in Traditional Medicare institutional billing. The Supervisor ensures operational excellence across daily production control, claim quality, denial prevention, timely follow-up, and staff development. This position also serves as the primary escalation point for complex payer, claim, and patient issues. This role requires comprehensive Medicare subject matter expertise across the entire hospital claim lifecycle-from submission to final resolution-including rejected claims, RTP management, remittance analysis, underpayment identification, appeals strategies, and barrier resolution. The Supervisor will collaborate cross-functionally with Coding, HIM, Patient Access, Revenue Integrity, Case Management/Utilization Review, and IT to drive accurate, timely reimbursement. Responsibilities * Provide leadership, coaching, and operational oversight for the Government Billing team. * Oversee Medicare and Medi-Cal hospital billing, collections, and production control. * Ensure accuracy and quality of claims to prevent denials and delays. * Manage timely follow-up and resolution of outstanding claims. * Serve as the escalation point for complex payer, claim, and patient issues. * Analyze remittances, identify underpayments, and develop appeal strategies. * Manage RTP and rejected claims throughout the correction and resubmission process. * Support cross-functional collaboration with Coding, HIM, Patient Access, Revenue Integrity, Case Management, and IT. * Develop staff through training, performance management, and workflow optimization. Required Skills & Qualifications * Three (3) years of experience in hospital Revenue Cycle operations. * Three (3) years of experience in hospital AR management, including Medicare, Medi-Cal, and PPO/HMO adjudication processes within a Government Billing & Collections environment. * Knowledge of all phases of hospital billing and federal/state regulations related to government payers. * Strong oral and written communication skills; able to communicate effectively in all mediums. * Strong analytical abilities with attention to detail. Preferred Skills & Experience * Two (2) years of supervisory or lead experience.
