Culinary Ambassador

Location: Kanab, Utah

Hiring Range: This position's compensation is anticipated to be $15.60 per hour, plus great benefits!

Work Schedule: 7:00 am - 3:00 pm (flexible) Friday - Tuesday.

Position Summary: Committed to creating and preparing quality, healthy vegan lunches as well as preparing food and working during frequent on and off-site catering functions, workshops and special dinners sanctuary-wide for all employees, volunteers, founders and visitors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Participate in all food preparation and handling.

• Prepare special meal substitutes when necessary.

• Serve all guests during peak lunchserviceproperly;including bussing and pre-bussing tables, refilling drink options when applicable, and keepingdiningroom area clean.

• Interact with visitors, volunteers, and staff in a positive and respectful manner.

• Keep buffet, salad bar, and drink area well stocked and clean at all times.

• Wash dishes.

• Participate in all around cleaning and deep cleaning, completing weekly and monthly chore assignments.

• Work on and off-site catering functions when needed.

• Be able tooperateregister properly with no shrinkage during lunch period.

• Handle andoperateall kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.

• Comply withall health codes and inspections.

• Record temperature of fridges/freezers daily.

• Unload food deliveries and stock appropriately.

• Must be able to work weekends including Sundays, and some evenings.

• Assistother team members with their work.

• Identify improvement to tasks.

• Bring any issuesimmediatelytoHospitality Services Manager's attention.

• Keep abreast of Best Friends current news by checking personal email daily. Basic computer skillsrequired.

• Engage in a safe, healthy, and positive work environment.

• Other duties as assigned byHospitalityServices Manager.

Skills and Experience:

• Education: High School diploma or GED.

• Previousrelated experience preferable but will train the right person.

• Outgoing positive personality and communication skills. The ideal person for this job would be a team player, personable, professional, and able to get along well with a wide variety of people.

• Attention to detail.

• Ability to consistently meet deadlines.

• Flexible andenjoyshandling a variety of tasks.

• Demonstrates personal accountability to ensure that all responsibilities are completed effectively andin a timely manner.

• Accurate,appropriate,clearand concise written and verbal communication skills. Strong listening skills.

• Basic computer skillsrequired. Must be able to use email and navigate pdf, word, and excel documents. Also need to be able to complete forms, save, and send as attachments to emails.

• Able and willing to professionally advocate Best Friends position on issues.

• Attend training sessions when assigned orrequested.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be ableto routinelylift 40 pounds.

• Must be able to work out of doors in all weather conditions, with temperatures ranging from below freezing to above 100 degrees.

• Must be able to perform strenuous physical activityon a daily basis, including, but not limitedto:climbing up and down ladders, lifting and carrying, reaching, stooping, squatting,cleaningand bending.

• Must have a valid driver's license and qualify for Best Friends insurance.

• Must be willing toworkweekends and holidays when needed for operational coverage.
