Job Responsibilities

The Purchasingmanageris responsible forproviding purchasing services as required for the various operating and corporate groupstoachieve the highest quality of products/ Servicespossible.

  • Responsible for all purchasing functions assigned around specific Divisionand /or Commodity areas. This will require relationship development to internal Koppers stakeholders and the development and understanding of the markets area.
  • Manage commercial relationships with vendors and suppliers for assigned commodity areas of responsibilities
  • Work closely with the engineering group and the plants to complete capital projects safely, on time and within budget.
  • Work with the plants toestablishqualified and competitive contractors.
  • Work with the plants to establishqualifiedcompetitive vendors to supply indirect items.
  • Solicit budgetary quotes for equipment and projects as needed.
  • Prepare and execute competitive bid packages. Analyze results andsummarizefor evaluation.
  • Negotiate the commercial terms andinterface withKoppers legal department to executeshort- and long-termsupply contracts
  • Generate Purchase Orders for goods and services. Expedite orders as needed.
  • Incorporate negotiation strategies to achieve the most competitive position for Koppers.
  • Track and document vendor performance.
  • Work on strategic initiatives includingprocureto payand streamlining the Purchasing system.
  • Ensure compliance with Zero Harm initiatives.
  • This position can be hybrid and does not require 5 days in the office.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administrationor other relatedfieldfrom an accredited College or University.
  • 5-7 years of experience in managing contracts and negotiations.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong computerskillsincluding Microsoft and Navision preferably.
  • Financial skills and working knowledge of basic accounting principles
  • Excellent planning,organizingand analytical skills
  • 20% travelrequired.
