The Facilities and Operations Supervisor oversees the maintenance, inspection, and reliability of building cranes and hoisting equipment. This role ensures that all overhead cranes, hoists, and rigging systems are in peak operational condition to support critical laboratory missions while maintaining strict compliance with Department of Energy (DOE) maintenance orders and OSHA standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance Oversight: Manage the daily maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of overhead bridge cranes, monorails, and jib cranes.
  • Preventative Programs: Develop and implement preventative maintenance (PM) schedules to reduce equipment downtime and prevent operational failures.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all equipment meets ASME B30 standards and OSHA safety regulations, coordinating annual and frequent inspections as required.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise a team of maintenance technicians and skilled trades; provide guidance on complex mechanical and electrical diagnostics.
  • Work Control & Safety: Act as the Person-in-Charge (PIC) for lifting-related maintenance, performing pre-job briefings and ensuring proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) practices are followed.
  • Vendor Management: Coordinate with outside contractors for major overhauls, load testing, and specialized certifications.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in overhead crane maintenance or heavy industrial machinery, with at least 2 years in a supervisor role.
  • Deep understanding of crane diagnostics, hydraulics, and electrical systems (110v-460v).
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, load charts, and maintenance management software (CMMS).
  • Ability to obtain or maintain a DOE security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant OSHA or NCCCO certifications.
