The Human Genetics Institute of New Jersey ( HGINJ) has embarked on a major initiative to encourage, foster, and support research in the life sciences within Rutgers University and the greater New Jersey community. As a part of this initiative, further research will be emphasized in five major core programs. Based on the strengths and expertise of the life sciences faculty, these programs include: Brain Disorders, Cancer Genomics, Computational Genetics, Reproductive Genetics, and Stem Cells. Each program is headed by a leading expert in the area of concentration.

The mission of the Human Genetics Institute of New Jersey ( HGINJ) is to operate a world-renowned institute of excellence in human and medical genetics, to collaborate with and enhance research and training programs in the life sciences of Rutgers, and to facilitate scientific relationships with the private sector. HGINJ is comprised of prominent research scientists with specialties encompassing a broad range of topics. Areas of concentration currently include the following core programs: Brain Disorders, Cancer Genomics, Computational Genetics, Reproductive Genetics, and Stem Cells.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Coordinator II for the Human Genetics Institute of NJ. Reporting to the Principal Investigator (PI), this position will assist the PI with overall project management including tracking tasks for research team members including status and progress toward goals and milestones using the JIRA platform.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for communication between study participants and the study team, and will review and proofread study materials.
  • Assists with IRB submissions, handle meeting scheduling, and organize and track program documents.
  • Oversees outreach and the use of social media for participant recruitment and for identifying new research partners.
  • Assists with posting on social media including setting up and managing promotional campaigns.
  • Coordinates with a social media promotion company.
  • Maintains and updates the RUGCC website using the Rutgers SITES platform.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • B.A. or equivalent work experience required, with related work experience in a research environment.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to oversee multiple projects with a constant flow of many ongoing tasks while working with a small leadership team.
  • Excellent communication, strong analytical skills, and attention to detail are required for this position.
  • Must be able to use communication tools such as Slack and data sharing services such as Box and quickly learn other similar tools.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of terminology and experiences related to genetics and to research studies.
