We foster an inclusive culture and are looking for diverse, talented people to join Alcon. As a Principal, IT Business Systems Analysis supporting the Manufacturing & Technical Operations(MTO) function Team in Johns Creek, GA, a typical day will include:

  • Serve as the IT application owner for assigned applications.

  • Collaborate with business and IT partners to identify needs, gather requirements, and define IT solution scopes.

  • Accountable for ensuring applications are compliant with the applicable IT controls and maintaining required IT documentation.

  • Troubleshoot, identify, and diagnose system and application errors and issues to minimize disruptions, support incident management process for applications.

  • Understand data pipeline architecture supporting site analytics from end-to-end.

  • Strong ability to work with and understand capabilities and data connections across multiple systems and interfaces.

  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet business requirementsand optimize for use as well as identify and remove unused and duplicate data sets.

  • Support and enhance the pipeline infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using OT as well as SQL and AWS.

  • Build analyticssolutions that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into manufacturing processes, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.

  • Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality and reduce complexity/redundancy in holistic data systems.

  • Participate in design reviews and provide input to the design recommendations; incorporate security requirements into design; and provide input to information/data flow and understand and comply with Alcon's Project Management Methodology in all planning/execution step.

  • Document detailed application specifications (User Requirement Specifications, Functional Specifications and System Design Specifications), translate technical requirements into programmed application modules and develop/enhance software application modules.

  • Actively participate in and/or lead continuous improvement activities, defining and implementing the changes required to create an industry-leading electronic data management and analytics capability.

  • Identify and deliver scalable Advanced Analytics and AI/ML solutions in partnership with Global IT Data Engineering and Data Science teams supporting manufacturing and quality function business objectives.

  • Identify potential improvement areas for system/application and connected services.

  • Demonstrated experience in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), with experience with Agile/Waterfall Practices.

  • Responsible to maintain application asset lifecycle & inventory management data in Service Now.

  • Responsible for user access reviews, supporting audits, and identify and manage risks.

  • Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a complex matrix organization while providing great customer service.

  • Support a highly automated and high-volume manufacturing site that operates 24x7x360 and provide on-call IT support.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs; Assoc.+9 yrs; M.S.+2 yrs; PhD+0 yrs)

  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English

  • 5 Years of Relevant Experience

Preferred Experience:

  • Degree in a technical field preferred (Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Systems Security, Engineering) with five to ten years of relevant experience.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment and familiar with GxP practices.

  • Experience working with industrial data (OT) platforms such as HiveMQ, HighByte, and Ignition.

  • Experience supporting industrial data (OT) applications such as Seeq and Canary Historian or similar for analytics.

  • Experience working with industrial data (OT) protocols including OPC UA, and vendor specific protocols for PLCs and industrial devices.

  • Experience with MS SQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle databases to include driving SQL query commands and writing stored procedures.

  • Basic knowledge of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controller), Instrumentation, and related OT.

  • Basic knowledge of network infrastructure (VLAN, Firewall, VPN, File Sharing, Printing, SKIM, Cloud, etc.)

  • Experience working in a Microsoft Operating Systems (Windows 10, 11, Server 2016, 2019, 2022, 2025) and Linux Red Hat infrastructure environment.

  • Experience in data visualization software including Tableau, AWS QuickSight and PowerBI.

  • Experience with AWS cloud services: Glue, Lambda, S3, RDS, Redshift, SQS, Step Functions.

  • Experience with Data Lake architecture and best practices for managing structured and unstructured data.

  • Experience in handling multi-source, large volume, high speed, and time series data preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Logical and Physical Data Modeling concepts.

  • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written; proven ability in technical writing.
