The Data Governance Analyst IV is a senior member of Medica's Data Governance team and serves as a subject matter expert in enterprise data governance, stewardship, and data quality. This role performs all responsibilities of the Data Governance Analyst III, but at a more advanced level with increased autonomy, strategic influence, and leadership expectations.

The Analyst IV provides direction to other Data Governance team members, leads the development of governance tools and processes, and represents Data Governance in complex enterprise initiatives such as data integration programs or platform migrations. This position plays a key role in maturing Medica's data governance framework, advancing stewardship practices, and ensuring high-quality, well-defined, and trusted enterprise data. Performs other duties as assigned.

Key Accountabilities



  • Leadership & Strategic Influence


    • Provide direction, coaching, and subject matter expertise to Data Governance Analysts and other team members
    • Lead the development of governance tools, templates, guidelines, and repeatable processes(e.g., enterprise guidelines for defining data quality threshold requirements)
    • Act as a data governance representative on strategic initiatives such as data integration projects, platform migrations, and system modernization efforts
    • Identify opportunities to improve governance maturity and influence the adoption of governance practices across the organization
    • Mentor more junior analysts on best practices for issue documentation, standards creation, and quality assessment



  • Advanced Data Governance & Stewardship


    • Maintain and enhance enterprise data management processes ensuring accuracy, integrity, and consistency across Medica's critical data assets
    • Develop and refine data definitions, business rules, data quality requirements, and measurement criteria
    • Lead complex stewardship activities, including data issue root-cause analysis, cross-team resolution, and documentation of enterprise data standards
    • Partner closely with domain data stewards, Data Catalog Stewardship Lead, business process owners, IT, and analytics teams to ensure alignment between data policies and operational realities



  • Collaboration & Communication


    • Represent Data Governance in cross-functional working sessions, design discussions, and technical solutioning efforts
    • Synthesize complex data concepts into clear, actionable insights for leadership, business partners, and technical teams
    • Collaborate with the Stewardship Lead and Data Governance leadership to drive consistent communication, stakeholder engagement, and governance program alignment



Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field
  • 7+ years of work experience beyond degree


Preferred Qualifications



  • Advanced working knowledge of health insurance data, concepts, and processes (enrollment, claims, provider, product, clinical, financial, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex data initiatives and mentor others
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand data architecture, data integration patterns, and data movement across systems
  • Prior experience representing governance or data management functions on cross-functional technical teams
  • Experience with governance or metadata management tools (Alation or similar)
  • Experience designing or operationalizing data quality frameworks, metrics, thresholds, and monitoring tools
  • Familiarity with AI and automation techniques applied to governance and quality workflows
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence without formal authority
  • Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills; able to clearly articulate complex data topics for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to independently manage priorities in a fast-paced, data-driven environment
  • High degree of professionalism, curiosity, and commitment to data stewardship


This position is an Office role, which requires an employee to work onsite at our Minnetonka, MN office, on average, 3 days per week.

The full salary grade for this position is $88,800 - $152,300. While the full salary grade is provided, the typical hiring salary range for this role is expected to be between $88,800 - $133,245. Annual salary range placement will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, education, work experience, applicable certifications and/or licensure, the position's scope and responsibility, internal pay equity and external market salary data. In addition to compensation, Medica offers a generous total rewards package that includes competitive medical, dental, vision, PTO, Holidays, paid volunteer time off, 401K contributions, caregiver services and many other benefits to support our employees.
