Job Overview:
We are looking for a skilled material handler to perform a variety of tasks as assigned in conjunction with the assembly of our product. This position is responsible for safely performing high-level continuous work to quality standards. Assignments may change based on business demands.
Responsibilities:
- Receives, ships, loads, and unloads materials/parts from suppliers or carriers. Material may be unloaded from trucks, pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand, with forklift, or other material handling device.
- Visually inspects incoming pieces/parts for compliance and obvious damage; informing Quality if necessary.
- Moves material/parts from warehouse or receiving area, to designated line or stock locations. (Ex: to proper stock location, to inspection area, to machine cell) while using barcode scanner and/or computers.
- Uses computer and/or barcode scanner to properly identify stock locations to retrieve parts.
- Moving stock to release, consolidate, or change part locations.
- Reads work order or follows oral instructions to determine materials to be transferred; informs inventory control to update computer system when necessary (Ex: quantity mismatch, mixed parts, wrong labels, etc.)
- Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials received, moved, or shipped and reports inconsistencies to inventory control.
- Operates forklift, hand truck, and/or other material handling equipment to assist in loading or moving any material.
- Receives work orders from planners; picks parts to jobs for machine shop, assembly areas, staging for kits, and spare part sales orders using barcode scanner and/or computer.
- Assists with inventory management of shipping and packing materials, maintaining an organized work area, and the management of waste streams including cardboard recycling.
- Follows all ISO procedures and safety rules, including wearing personal safety equipment.
- Remove any debris found on shelves throughout the warehouse.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1+ years experience with Warehouse, Material handling and Inventory Control
Key Competencies:
- Strong interpersonal skills and able to interact positively and work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Self-motivated and willing to change priorities as needed.
- Willing to participate in continuous learning opportunities for personal and job development.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions in English, short correspondence, and memos, such as supervisory instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and work orders.
- Ability to effectively share information about job duties in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to use a 10-key calculator to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Preferences:
- Prior experience in cycle counting or material handling desirable.
- Material handling or warehouse experience preferred with emphasis on forklift training and use
- Able to use computer and/or barcode scanner to learn business computer systems
- Able to work overtime when necessary.
- Able to become certified on forklift and other material handling devices.
Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements:
