Summary

Deriva Energy is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to support, optimize, and enhance the company's Finance and HR applications landscape. This hands-on role is focused on the day-to-day support, configuration, and continuous improvement of mission-critical systems, with primary responsibility for NetSuite, Basware, and Workday, supporting accounting, procurement, treasury, expense, and HR-related business processes.

The Business Systems Analyst will operate as part of the Finance and HR Applications support organization, handling incidents, service requests, and changes, while also contributing to enhancement initiatives and project work. This role works closely with Finance, Accounting, Procurement, HR, and IT teams, as well as third-party vendors, to ensure system stability, data integrity, SOx compliance, and alignment with evolving business needs. This position does not include people management responsibilities.

Main Responsibilities

Application Support & Operations

  • Provide hands-on production support for finance and HR applications, with a primary focus on NetSuite, Basware, and Workday

  • Manage and resolve incidents, service requests, and changes related to application functionality, data, integrations, configuration, and user access

  • Serve as an escalation point for complex application issues and partner with vendors to drive root cause analysis and resolution

  • Monitor system performance, integrations, interfaces, and scheduled jobs to ensure reliable and timely processing

  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities from a systems and data perspective

Business Analysis & System Enhancement

  • Partner with Finance, Accounting, Procurement, Treasury, and HR stakeholders to understand business processes and system requirements

  • Translate business needs into clear functional requirements, configuration updates, and system enhancements

  • Participate in enhancement initiatives and project work, including system upgrades, new functionality, and process improvements

  • Support testing activities including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing

  • Maintain clear and current documentation for system configurations, integrations, and operational processes

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, controls, and data quality across supported platforms

SOx Compliance & Controls

  • Support SOx compliance for finance and HR applications through execution and maintenance of application controls

  • Assist with audit requests, evidence collection, and remediation of findings

  • Ensure access controls, change management, and system configurations align with compliance requirements

  • Partner with IT, Finance, HR, and Audit teams to strengthen control design and operational effectiveness

IT Service Management

  • Manage incidents, service requests, and changes using ServiceNow or a similar ITSM tool

  • Follow ITIL-aligned processes for incident, problem, and change management

  • Track recurring issues and contribute to long-term fixes to reduce support volume and improve system stability

  • Communicate effectively with business users regarding incidents, resolutions, and planned system changes

  • Vendor & Integration Support

  • Coordinate with third-party vendors and implementation partners for issue resolution and system enhancements

  • Support vendor-led upgrades, patches, and releases

  • Assist with validation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of integrations and data flows between enterprise platforms

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

  • In addition to a Bachelor's degree, Four (4) years or more of experience supporting enterprise finance, HR, or ERP applications in a production environment

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience with NetSuite, Basware, and or Workday

  • Solid understanding of accounting, procurement, expense, and HR business processes

  • Experience operating in a SOx-compliant environment

  • Familiarity with ERP integrations, middleware, and data flows

  • Experience supporting system enhancements and participating in application-related projects

  • Familiarity with ITSM tools and processes, preferably ServiceNow

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate effectively with business stakeholders and technical teams

Working Conditions

  • Based in Charlotte, NC

  • Hybrid work environment (4 days in office)

  • Occasional travel may be required to support key initiatives or projects
