Director of Financial Reporting

As the Director, Financial Reporting, you will lead our global external reporting function. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy, transparency, and timeliness of PPG's financial disclosures as a publicly traded, multinational organization. You will oversee SEC reporting, technical accounting, and financial governance processes while partnering closely with senior leadership across Finance, Legal, and Investor Relations. You will work a hybrid work schedule with 3 days onsite and 2 remote from our Pittsburgh, PA office. You will report to the VP of Finance.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation, review, and filing of all SEC reports, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and other required disclosures.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and internal financial policies.
  • Oversee the preparation of quarterly earnings materials and support Investor Relations with financial data and analysis.
  • Manage XBRL tagging and quality control for all filings.
  • Research, interpret, and implement new accounting standards and regulatory changes.
  • Serve as our subject-matter expert on complex accounting areas such as revenue recognition, business combinations, impairments, and stock-based compensation. Develop and maintain global accounting policies and ensure consistent application across business units.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing financial reporting team.
  • Collaborate with FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Legal, and business unit finance teams to ensure accurate and complete financial information.
  • Support strategic initiatives, including M&A activity, system implementations, and process transformation projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting or financial reporting, ideally with a mix of Big Four public accounting and corporate reporting experience.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and SOX compliance.
  • Experience working in a large, global, publicly traded company strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous experience with ERP systems such as SAP and Oracle, and accounting consolidation tools such as HFM is strongly beneficial
