We're looking for a visionary Senior Solutions Engineer/Architect to lead our IT modernization through bold engineering and problem-solving. Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Drives the solution engineering around one or more technology domains (e.g. application, data, advanced technologies, Software as a Service, Operating Systems, Mobility, etc.).
  • Directs the development and evaluation of roadmaps for applications, technologies and infrastructure, including vendor and internally developed applications.
  • Collaborates with peers; researches, establishes and updates technical standards; manages application development lifecycle and methodologies, provides oversight on processes and other governance responsibilities.
  • Monitors the IT & business industry to keep up with best practices and develops strategies for implementation. Communicates and influences strategic direction and can represent IT at senior executive level.
  • Provides guidance and conducts architectural, configuration, solution and quality reviews. Takes the lead on issues requiring coordination with all internal IT groups and other organizations, including vendors to ensure that issues are addressed. Directs team members as required for resolution.
  • Leads large teams in the development of new/enhanced IT products from project initiation through user acceptance and implementation including planning, requirements gathering, business analysis, design, development (coding, configuration, customization), testing, training, and implementation.
  • Manages vendor resources to deliver high quality deliverables according to agreed upon timeframes and costs.
  • Develops staff as needed; research/provide recommendations on technical training, evaluates/provides feedback for skill development of junior technical staff.
  • Ensures alignment of technology solutions with IT standards, documentation requirements and guiding principles. Ensures supportability, scalability, maintainability, reliability, data security, cost efficiency and alignment across IT domains including IT Systems Delivery and IT Engineering and Operations.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum 8 years experience designing, developing, implementing, and operating technologies in one or more IT domains, e.g. applications, data, solution, infrastructure, process change management.
  • Master's Degree and a minimum 6 years experience designing, developing, implementing, and operating technologies in one or more IT domains, e.g. applications, data, solution, infrastructure, process change management.
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferably in IT, computer science, business administration, engineering or decision sciences including mathematics, analytics, quantitative methods and a minimum 8 years experience designing, developing, implementing, and operating technologies in one or more IT domains, e.g. applications, data, solution, infrastructure, process change management.
  • Master's Degree Preferably in IT, computer science, business administration, engineering or decision sciences including mathematics, analytics, quantitative methods and a minimum 6 years experience designing, developing, implementing, and operating technologies in one or more IT domains, e.g. applications, data, solution, infrastructure, process change management.
Relevant Work Experience
  • A minimum of five years leadership or managerial experience, required.
  • Must have a solid understanding of architectural concepts and practices leading to solutions that are reliable, maintainable, reusable, scalable and extensible, e.g. service-oriented architectures, required.
  • Candidates must demonstrate ability to persuade and collaborate through influencing, listening, acting on feedback, balanced exploration of alternative solutions and building relationship buildings, required.
  • Candidates must be agile learners and demonstrate continuous self-development. Candidates should demonstrate high energy and a passion for customer service, required.
  • Experience managing, coaching and developing new or lesser-experienced team members required, including project activities such as design and/or code reviews and guidance regarding SDLC or Agile methodologies or service-oriented architectures, required.
  • Experience with guiding business or technology managers towards architecturally sound decisions using collaboration, influence and advisory skills. Experience presenting concise, jargon-free, easy-to-understand technical topics to executives, required.
  • Conversant in emerging technologies and practices, e.g. Big Data/Analytics, Cloud (SaaS, PaaS), mobile, sensors (Internet of Things), required.
  • Experience identifying and vetting vendor products preferred, including developing requests for proposal, vendor research and proposal evaluation, required.
  • Flexible and able to work off-hours as required to support deployments, resolve production problems or respond to corporate emergencies, required.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.

Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
