Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Practitioner (APRN - Psychiatric)

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) works closely with La Amistad's admission department by acting as an initial point-of-contact with new admissions and provides quality assessments. Additionally, delivers high quality sessions/interventions to assigned clients in collaboration with attending psychiatrist. The APRN is clinically supervised by La Amistad's Medical Director


Qualifications

  • Education: Master's Degree or Post-Master's Degree in Nursing with a Specialization in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing
  • Experience: One (1) year experience working with behavioral health population as an APRPNP preferred.
  • License/Certification: Active Florida State license as APRPNP preferred. Active Florida State DEA license within six months of hire. Active National Certification from an Approved Nursing Specialty Board.
  • Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate with members of the interdisciplinary treatment team, managed care representatives, children, adolescents, adults and residents' families in a clean and concise manner.
  • Must have knowledge of individual, group and family therapy dynamics and techniques as related to cultural, social, economic, communication and role expectations within the family system.
  • Must have good clinical skills to include the assessment, diagnosis, and management of mental health problems and psychiatric disorders.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of child, adolescent, and adult needs, knowledge of growth and development stages and possess an understanding of the range of treatment needed by age group.
  • Must have leadership abilities.
