IoT Cloud Developer | Remote | Michigan or Minneapolis Preferred
We're looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to help design, build, and support scalable, cloud-native solutions on AWS. In this role, you'll work across serverless, event-driven, and IoT-based architectures, partnering closely with delivery teams and clients to turn complex requirements into reliable, high-performing systems. You'll bring strong technical depth, a builder's mindset, and a collaborative approach-contributing directly to implementation while helping guide and mentor other engineers as part of successful project delivery.

What You'll Accomplish:
- Design, build, and support cloud-native AWS solutions with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Contribute to and support AWS IoT Core-based architectures, integrating device data with backend services.
- Design, develop and maintain scalable serverless applications on AWS Lambda using TypeScript.
- Design and support scalable DynamoDB data models for high-throughput, event-driven workloads.
- Implement and maintain event-driven architectures using Kinesis streams, SNS topics, and S3.
- Support data ingestion, transformation, and analytics workflows leveraging AWS Glue, Athena, and QuickSight.
- Contribute to the evaluation and implementation of AWS Fargate for longer-running or stateful services, including services written in Golang.
- Monitor cloud system performance, identify optimization opportunities, and implement improvements to reliability and cost efficiency.
- Investigate root causes of incidents within distributed systems and document solutions and best practices.
- Implement and maintain security controls aligned with AWS best practices to protect infrastructure and data.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Associate Cloud Engineers as part of project delivery.
- Communicate technical concepts effectively to internal teams and clients, contributing to strong delivery outcomes.
What You'll Bring:
- Strong experience building and supporting AWS-based, cloud-native architectures.
- Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, and event-driven systems.
- Proficiency in TypeScript; working knowledge of Python for automation and support scripts.
- Exposure to or experience with Golang for backend or service development is a plus.
- Experience working with AWS IoT Core or similar message- and device-driven architectures.
- Familiarity with Kinesis, SNS, and S3 for streaming and asynchronous workflows.
- Experience supporting data and analytics pipelines using tools such as Glue, Athena, and QuickSight.
- Understanding of containerized workloads and managed compute platforms such as AWS Fargate.
- Strong understanding of cloud security principles, including IAM, encryption, and least-privilege access.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to scalability and long-term maintainability.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to mentor, coach, and support other engineers.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field OR equivalent practical experience.
- 3-5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure, or backend development roles.
- Experience working in AWS-centric environments.
- Relevant AWS certifications are a plus.
