Position Title: Assistant Vice President, Instructional Technology & Regional Networking Position Number: JR103256 Job Description Summary Organization's Summary Statement: The Assistant Vice President, Instructional Technology & Regional Networking at the University of Maryland (UMD) provides strategic leadership and vision for developing and executing integrated, comprehensive strategies that promote excellence and innovation in teaching, learning, and scholarly activities, as well as providing leadership of the Mid-Atlantic Crossroads (MAX), which provides advanced regional networking services in support of education and research. The AVP fosters effective, engaging, innovative, and equitable teaching and learning and guides the institution’s strategic vision, pace, and priorities in these areas. The work includes implementing innovative, technology-enhanced pedagogical practices, creating collaborative learning environments, and promoting educational innovation and experiential learning. The AVP aims to enhance student success and academic excellence through these efforts. In addition, the AVP provides executive leadership to the MAX which operates the University’s Research and Educational Network (REN). MAX designs and deploys an innovative advanced cyber-infrastructure architecture and platform. Its participant communities are from federal agencies, higher education, and private sector research organizations. **This position is considered essential and may be required to work at the normal work location or an alternative location during a major catastrophic event, weather emergency, or other operational emergency to help maintain the continuity of University services.** Physical Demands: Licenses/ Certifications: N/A Minimum Qualifications: Education: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Experience: Fourteen (14) years of professional experience managing classroom technology support or experience implementing or troubleshooting technology in an academic setting.
