The Clinical Trials Financial Analyst role provides fiscal management support for programs under Clinical Research Support (CRS).

The role manages workflows and financials for oncology clinical trials, including creation and management of clinical trial budgets, evaluating impact across service areas, navigating study budgets through the FH/UW systems, and negotiating amendments as needed. Works independently and in cooperation with operations, nursing, regulatory and post award teams, study teams, central offices, faculty members, and external stakeholders to manage studies and maintains professional relationships with faculty, study teams, and sponsors.

This position requires understanding of research processes, non-industry, and industry-sponsored oncology clinical trials, and maintains institutional knowledge of startup and amendment requirements, dependencies, billing grid, budget, and post-award requirements.

Responsibilities

    Project manage all aspects of financial management for clinical trials to include industry-sponsored; investigator initiated and grant funded trials.
  • Identify research costs and develop and negotiate comprehensive budgets for industry-sponsored, investigator initiated and grant funded trials.
  • Prepare, submit, and manage study startup and amendment documentation across multiple platforms, including the OnCore CTMS, REDCap system, and email.
  • Facilitate pre-implementation review with PIs and study teams to meet pre-submission requirements and ensure continuity with institutional goals and standards.
  • Prepare, submit and manage internal financial processes and coordinate with clinic implementation staff.
  • Collaborate with cancer consortium parallel offices and clinic partners to ensure all institutional activation & amendment requirements are met.
  • Partner with extended study startup & amendments team including regulatory, nursing, operations and study staff to communicate startup and amendment processes, milestones, and timeline goals.
  • Prepare, submit, and manage financial document updates across multiple platforms (e.g., OnCore CTMS, REDcap, and email) that result from protocol amendments and/or other changes as needed.
  • Create multi-year and annual budgets. Monitor financial performance relative to budget and explain variances and trends.
  • Manage timelines, ensuring that all financial, clinic implementation and contract requirements are executed accurately and expeditiously.
  • Assist with ongoing financial analysis, forecasting, and ad hoc financial models.
  • Review internal billing compliance documents and OnCore study calendars/billing grids to ensure financial infrastructure is sound and in alignment with protocol requirements and study sponsor funding terms.
  • Work professionally and proactively with central offices, clinic partners, faculty members, and research collaborators in support of the overall research plan.
  • Assist with other departmental fiscal objectives as needed and provide recommendations for changes in processes or practices that standardize, automate and optimize efficiencies in routine tasks.


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in accounting or finance, preferable in a research or not-for-profit environment.
  • Working knowledge of financial information and related operational statistics.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 years fiscal management of Phase I-III clinical trials.
  • Previous experience developing complex, multi-phase clinical trial budgets; negotiating study budgets and revisions and knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to process complex documents and extract key information.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel and Word, and experience working with databases.
  • Excellent communication (written and oral), organization, customer service, collaboration, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Clinical research related certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with process improvement principles.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with project management tools and techniques.
  • Experience performing clinical trial management/administration and/or sponsor invoicing activities utilizing OnCore or another CTMS system.
  • Basic knowledge of Medicare Coverage Analysis.
  • Experience performing or reviewing clinical trial management/administration activities utilizing Epic or another patient billing and registration system.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $80,475 to $120,682, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
