Job Description




As a Security Officer - Access Control - Logistics Site in Newville, PA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Logistics & Distribution, and more. As an Access Control Officer with Allied Universal at a busy logistics and distribution location, you will help manage entry and exit points, verify credentials, and support visitor and truck driver check-in. You will conduct routine patrols, remain visible to help discourage security-related incidents, and communicate clearly with onsite teams. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to guests, drivers, and/or employees by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a logistics and distribution location.
  • Control access at entry points by verifying identification, confirming appointments and/or delivery documentation, and directing visitors, contractors, and drivers to the proper check-in areas.
  • Monitor inbound and outbound traffic flow at gates and dock areas, helping to reduce congestion and supporting orderly movement of trailers, containers, and delivery vehicles.
  • Conduct screening of individuals and/or vehicles as required by post orders, using manual checks and/or approved tools while maintaining a professional customer service approach.
  • Issue and collect visitor badges and/or access credentials, maintain accurate access logs, and report discrepancies to site management in accordance with site-specific policies.
  • Operate access control systems, radios, phones, and/or intercoms to coordinate entries and exits, communicate instructions, and relay information to Allied Universal supervision and client representatives.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including access disputes, unauthorized entry attempts, and/or disruptive behavior.
  • Perform regular and random patrols of gate areas, guard shacks, and/or perimeter-adjacent zones as directed by post orders. Working environments and conditions may vary by location.
  • Observe and report unusual activity, damaged fencing, open doors, and/or property concerns, and complete written and/or electronic reports per site requirements.
  • Support emergency procedures such as evacuations, shelter-in-place, and/or lockdown actions as directed, and assist with scene control until additional resources arrive.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
