Position description

Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor

The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Joe C. Wen School of Population & Public Health, University of California, Irvine (UCI), invites applications for a tenure-track position in Epidemiology at the Assistant Professor level or a tenured position at the Associate or Full Professor level. We seek applicants engaged in innovative research that advances our understanding of the causes and distribution of chronic diseases or conditions that contribute to morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs in the US. This aligns with the department's mission to improve population health through research, education, community engagement, and translating discoveries into practice. Faculty in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics (DEB) have expertise in cardiometabolic diseases, cancers, Alzheimer's disease and Related Dementias (ADRD), nutrition, genetics and omics, study design methodology, and advanced biostatistical and analytical techniques. Faculty members also lead campus-wide initiatives. We welcome applications from candidates whose research is distinctive, methodologically focused, or complements departmental areas of focus, or aligns with the newly established Center for Global Cardiometabolic Health & Nutrition at UCI (https://sites.uci.edu/cardiometabolic/), where several faculty members are core contributors.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach epidemiology-focused courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, as well as mentor students and fellows. Evidence of excellence in teaching, mentorship, and commitment to student success is required. Academic rank and salary will align with training, qualifications, and experience.
